Insurance

Hi all,

Do we have a general consensus as to who is giving competitive rates on insurance yet?
£520 quid with Admiral insurance. As it’s classed as a van, they don’t insure it as a car. 12,000 miles per annum, 450 voluntary excess, two drives and I’ve got 9 years+ ncd. I tried NFU but they were over £1000.

NFU for me were pretty competitive. Me and wife fully comp for £656 for Trialmaster (no restrictions). We do insure a lot of stuff with them though.

Happy to look into any quotations if required, just drop me a DM.

We have very competitive rates on INEOS and being a preferred insurer for the club you will also get club discount included.
Just tried to DM you Nick but it looks like you've maxed out your available inbound messages. I'd like a quote so please drop me a message on here

We have two other cars insured with Admiral (Porsche and Discovery) so just gone on their website to get a quote for the Fieldmaster that hopefully arrives soon. The quote couldn't be completed so I jumped on their webchat and after the agent had looked at the case, I got the following response....

"I truly appreciate that, I have reviewed the quote and I can see that the new vehicle is grouped 99. We rate all of our vehicles between 1-50. If the vehicle is a higher group it is a higher risk to insure. All of this is based on our claims experience for each vehicle and is a fair way of charging a premium that most accurately reflects the risk.

Thus as the new car is far higher grouped, as per the underwriting criteria, we are able to insure vehicles group 1 to 49. Thus, I regret to inform you that we will unfortunately not be able to insure the new car on the policy Matt."

Not yet heard of anyone getting a competetive quote from Adrian Flux of less than £700.00.
NFU, LV, Admiral, Hastings, and one or two others have provided lots of quotes at least £200.00 less.
I have used Adrian Flux with no issues but this time I have not found them to be any way competitive. I feel a little peeved at Adrian Flux claiming the 'preferred Grenadier insurer' title. Preferred for what? Looking at the posts on here, they are certainly not the preferred insurer.

Admiral will only inusre as a van , had the same responce to say we do not insure fieldmaster or trialmaster.

i Second this post. they even laughed when i said fieldmasters get insured for 700-800 .

Seems like NFU , LV or Hastings for the Belstaff editions .

Just tried to update some insurance quotes and the number plate is not recognised . Does anybody have any idea how long it takes for details to be on the system

I think AF should be taken off the list of 'preferred' traders when they patently aren't.

Some sites recognised my reg, some didn't. Those that didn't all had the facility to go by make/model. I think only one or two sites didn't have Ineos on the drop down menu.

All fixed, that was my mistake with the software upgrade.

Nick can now receive as many messages as people are willing to send.

l think the insurance will sort itself out as the vehicle becomes "known" to insurance companies.
We had this with our VW Up GTi
The vehicle was a brand new model and it wasn't on their books, l was being quoted silly prices but eventually got it for just over £250

Likewise my new Defender. lnitial quotes when l ordered it back at the end of 2021 were IRO £900

By the time the vehicle was delivered at the end of 2022 l insured it for under £400.

Well I ended up insuring my Fieldmaster just for the period till my x trails policy ran out on June 12th. Today I have had the renewal for the full year with Churchill £414 comp plus. Result.

I got a quote from Admiral which is crazily high. £1200!
Currently I am using General Accident under Aviva group for my Audi A3 but the NCD has been applied to this car.

Any idea of bringing the insurance quote down?

Is this for a Belstaff edition or a commercial? People have been having good luck with NFU. Admiral would not touch my trialmaster 6 weeks ago .

That is a Utility Wagon 5-seater for personal use, not Trialmaster or Fieldmaster.
I am waiting NFU to get back to my enquiry.
