Has anyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area had a Wolfbox 900 installed in a Grenadier? If so, I am looking for a local shop that has experience doing an install in a Grenadier at a reasonable price. Also install cost will be good to know as well.

Please advise?

Did you ever find an installer in Dallas? If so, can you share?

I can't help with specifics but it's not a complicated job and there is a lot of room in the rear door panel with an existing boot to run the wire through. I'm confident any well rated shop can handle it, it looks to be an easy-medium DIY job so a professional should be able to knock it out in an hour or two.

The only thing I'd recommend is specifying to the installer that you want it on when the ignition is on (example implementation could be to fuse tap into the obd2 port fuse).

I'm in process of installing mine and curious where everyone is wiring the actual mirror too? Which fuses etc? The ones I see connect it to a switch just makes it another button to hit and I have zero interest in that. I'd like to connect by piggy fuse too a ACC or Start fuse just haven't had time to dive into that portion yet.

Mines still in transit but I was planning to tap into the OBD2 fuse in the cockpit fuse box shown here. It's the top 10 amp fuse in the center column directly under the two open spots at the top. That should be on whenever the ignition is on. I'm with you, makes no sense to have it switched overhead as it should never be off if the car is on.

I'll take a look there for sure thank you. I was wondering if there was a spot in the passenger side (NA) fuse box, I wasn't sure.

That is what we used for our install (which was professionally done). It is the most logical and cleanest option.

I dropped the overhead panel and tapped into the output of the Int 1 switch (which I leave on).
Saves running cables as it is close to the mirror, also a good place to mount the GPS puck.
I can turn off the Wolfbox and use it as a plain mirror by turning off the Int 1 switch.

I like the idea for the GPS mount there for sure, my INT switches will be in use for other items, I'd like the convivence of just turning the car on and seeing out the back. lol Mine is in for first service at 1200miles so I will have to wait to finish it up.

From what I understand, there is a risk of phantom battery drain with leaving the aux switches on 24/7. At least that was explained to me by the dealer so take it with a grain of salt. Still a decent solution/choice, I just didn't want a switch left on out of an abundance of caution and I didn't want yet another thing to switch on on ignition.

That said, I figure tapping into the passenger fuse box means the wiring is already pretty close to the aux wire in the passenger footwell, so it's not a big deal to change my mind.

Would like nothing more than to install a Wolfbox for the functionality it provides as it is a great product. However, I can’t get past the mess of wires and connectors you have to deal with which are exposed. Sure, it all depends on how detailed you are when you install it but it would be nice if they could build it in such way there was only one discreet connector cable/ribbon containing all the wires at the mirror for a cleaner install. I don’t know if that is possible as part of a redesign but it would nice. Yes, I’m sure this is being a very pedantic but it would be an improvement as messy looking aftermarket installs just don’t impress.

Yeah it is kinda a mess with having to have three cables. I got mine up and running with the 67 design mount. It looks okay but I put wires going up the black stem that holds the mirror so you cannot really tell unless you look hard. Another note the GPS unit should have been integrated within the mirror itself. For those of you who do not have one or seen one yet this thing is about 3 times the size of the OEM mirror. I'm still debating taking it back off. Only real value I see other than being able to see out the back nicely is the front dash cam built in. Instructions are terrible as well, they are generic. Simple enough to do however both BCC and ACC power wires must be hooked up to work, I didn't want BCC (which allows it to run all the time) so I just spliced it into ACC and it works like that.

Totally agree, funny you should mention the external GPS unit as I also find that a bit of a problem with the design. I’m sure they can find a smaller unit and incorporate it inside the mirror body and save running extra wires. Like I said, it’s still a very nice product overall but some refinement is needed. I’m going to hold out for as long as I can hoping things like this are improved with new models and continued upgrades.

I took mine to a custom audio shop so that the wires and wiring were hidden and the system looks like something from the factory. They did a great job and any custom audio shop will gladly take this work. It cost me about $200

I agree in principle, the amount of different wires and the separate gps (which I'm pretty sure the cameras will work fine without btw).

However, the stock rear visibility on the Grenadier is the poorest I've ever seen and verges on unsafe, especially if you drive in heavily populated areas with lot of high speed and busy freeways. Also the stock backup camera is a bit of a joke.

Only concern with an independent shop doing the work is the number of panel clips or retainers which get broke in the process and you’ll never know about. It all depends on the shop of course and many pride themselves on their work and are extremely professional. I guess that’s the same risk you run doing it yourself with the only difference being you are less likely to be in a rush and break things. You can be more methodical as you typically won’t but be up against the clock to get another job done.

I barely even notice mine wires. I just do not like the card reader location as I need to swivel the mirror down in order to press the card to remove it. Luckily, I have a 1TB card so I do not need to remove it much.

Or at least have a shorter wire for the GPS. I can't see the bundle of wires but it would be better if the wire was shorter.

You could have done what I did and pop the switch panel down it has no screws but pivots at the front, so near the rear it swings down. In there you can stick it to a metal or plastic roof rail and it faces up directly. It was also a good spot to hide all the excess wire.

Will wolfbox work with just ACC hardwired (and not an always on fuse)? I really don't want the parking feature potentially draining the battery no matter how low power it's claimed to be.
