Not a fan of this look. Takes away from the clean lines of the truck and looks very much like an aftermarket part. Love the original too bar from the factory.

Thanks Dave. I'm not doing it myself, having it done. I just write the check. The light bar I'm using is not deep, we are going to weld mounting tabs to the cross bar.

No, but mine bolts up pretty flat to the bumper. I think it is more likely if you attachment points extend out

I like the idea, nd they look great if done properly, but like Eric says I haven’t seen one like that for a few years in the UK, and wonder if they would pass an MOT (road worthy test in UK).

The price that IA seem to charge for parts, I think they would be a cheaper option if someone was involved in a bump.

I do wonder if there would be a bigger market for a steel low profile one though that could be winch compatible.

Or our Yank friends could just send us their metal ones, when they change over.

Absolutely true.

Parts for this little low speed interaction where an old Defender slid into me at walking pace were £7500. That’s parts alone. No fitting and painting. No new wheel and tyre, no new rad, no new parking sensors. Seven And A Half Thousand Pounds. That’s like $15000 AUS or knocking on the door of $10000 USD.

I really want a steel bumper and I’d pay good money for one.

For what it’s worth, I asked a mate of mine who is an MOT tester about steel bumpers and he said there no issue at all, we’re in a fairly rural area where lots of Land Rovers and pickups have aftermarket bumpers and it’s never a problem.

I guess you have to be perfectly clear with your insurance company about the modification.

I know an excellent local fabricator who i have no doubt could make one but a one off will be a tonne of money.

I’m going to look into it I think. Ideally I want something looks fairly close to standard, I want to retain the step/seat and the parking sensors.
