I found this under the Engine compartment (Not the Quarter, the plastic plug) I keep my garage near spotless, so I am pretty sure this came from the Grenadier. Too small to be the engine or transmission (HaHa), and not super concerned as no signs of any problems. Just wondering if someone might actually know where it was once plugged into. It is not a bushing and does not have a hole through. It appears to be a protective plug.

Something very similar comes from the drill holes on the front and rear diffs (and the trailing arms). The threaded holes are used to attach underbody protection. The threads are protected by a bung like that. But since that bung is so clean it may come from somewhere higher on the car.

The bungs on my car had the thread marks visible on the bung, when removed. No thread marks may mean it comes from an unthreaded hole on the car.

It did probably come from the car. One of the bungs had fallen out on my car.

I had the exact same plug fall out a week ago and found it under the vehicle. It came from one of the pre-drilled holes on the underside of the front differential housing. Both front and rear have the same plastic plugs to protect the threaded holes. Most likely I’ll be installing skid plates on the diff housings anyway so for now I’ve put a little dab of grease on the threads to protect them for now.

Hey thanks so very much. It is not as clean as it looks in the photo. Had a bunch of Arizona sand in it but I cleaned that out. I guess I will crawl under to take a look. Was trying to avoid laying down cause at my age that generally just puts me to sleep. Will be installing a Dash cam today so would be a good time to check it out. Thanks again.

I came across them while installing the diff protectors. I talk about it here.
