What did you do with your Grenadier today?

Yesterday I had a meet up with @Barney and we drove to the Odenwald Forest. It was a great and enjoyable afternoon and we had a good time.

Today (as of last Friday) marked a full year with my Grenadier.
19500 flawless miles (knocking on the wood). Two engine oil changes (11k and 17.5k), one diff oil change (12.3k), lots of fill-ups.
Trips (from San Diego, California):
First trip - my son's wedding in Los Angeles: ~300 miles
Jackson, Wyoming (Dec 23): 2800 miles
Mammoth Lakes, CA (Feb 24): 1000 miles
Anza-Borrego Desert, CA (Jan 24 - Nov 24): probably 800 miles total
Ouray, CO (Sep 24): 2500 miles
Hurricane, UT (Oct 24): 1000 miles
Sonoma, CA (Nov 24): 1200 miles
Santa Barbara, CA (Dec 24): 500 miles

Only ~9k miles for mindless commute

These new terrains I’m sure are going to wear even better than the mud terrain

I will put the mud terrain back on in the spring time. I just switched to these because of the snow and ice here in Utah, I felt it would do a better job.

Went bushbashing down a seldom used track this weekend (figured we needed some pinstripes, although sadly they are hard to spot on the Scottish White). The last part down to the creek was completely lost to the regrowth (apparently the area has been closed for years to remove UXO and only recently reopened), but the Grenadier found a way through - nice swimming spot at the end. About 30-35 degree descent/ascent off camber into a deep rut, to get in and out - a little soft after plenty of rain the day before. But never felt like it was going to lose traction. Tried out HDC on the way down - very impressive (and quiet!). After so much driving over high scrub, with regrowth trees over roof height, I was concerned about getting sticks etc caught in the undercarriage, but it was all clear - also surprising.

On the way in we flexed up the suspension (modified) on the powerlines track in Garden's of Stone SCA near Lithgow, NSW. Good dirty fun.

Overall very impressed with the performance of vehicle and suspension setup. No doubt it will do everything we want it to, and more. Looking forward to putting it up against the Toyota's next time, and some more adventures over Christmas.

I took my first long-ish highway drive in the Grenadier today - the most unpleasant drive one can imagine - to JFK airport (in the rain). Really enjoying the truck - I thought steering would bother me but it took less than 20 miles to adapt.

My wife is away in Greece for a week with a friend, so I'm going to do some work on the truck and drive her car around town. It's cold here in the Northeast and I don't want to work in the driveway... but our garage door isn't tall enough for the truck to fit in there. But the door on my woodshop is - so I moved all my tools around and parked the truck in my 22x36' woodshop.

I'm going to spend nights and the weekend upgrading the stereo, installing the wolfbox, installing some USB ports... and we'll see what else I can get to!

Spent a day with about a dozen (!) Grenadiers from the Vancouver/Squamish/Whistler area. Squamish Valley, Elaho River Rec Site, Peaches & Cream Falls.

Thanks to the local dealer, Weissach Ineos, for organizing it including coffee, pastries, and a fire in the forest for a pig roast and garlic bread.

Some of us were probably hoping for a bit more snow but otherwise the weather was perfect for December. Really nice time, really nice people.

You had me at pig roast!! Beautiful scenery, bunch of Grenny’s, food, sounds like a great time!! Heck even enjoyed the soundtrack on the video. Glad I didn’t go cause I would have probably embarrassed myself when I saw that waterfall. Cold or not I would have been under/in that bad boy and probably wouldn’t have had a bathing suit packed/available so boxers it would have been!!

Besides new products I can check out and possibly add to my Grenny’s, seeing this kind of stuff on the forum is my favorite thing. Thanks for posting!

They also tend to be over generous with the salt north of the border. Don't know what Highland Council is like but down here they go OTT because of the logging routes have to be keep clear. We have a wood burning power station north of Lockerbie so those roads must be kept clear

Yeah it's quite bad up here , they really only grit when it is need but it is just so much they put down

Today I drove a long way on the motorway and then on country roads into the Oden Forest to look at a piece of woodland that is to be auctioned off there. When I got out of the Grenadier a couple of gentlemen asked me if that was the new Defender. I said yes, except that it's now called the Grenadier and is built by Ineos. Dark faces. They probably don't have that much contact with the real world in this area. But then we took the Grenadier for a spin through the forest. They were thrilled and I was proud. My Grenadier fulfils my expectations. I am happy and look forward to it every time I get on it. At the end of the appointment, they asked again what it was called. I explained to them that it wasn't a Land Rover Defender. You're more likely to find them in the urban jungle.
