We went on a quick holiday in Oak Creek Canyon, just outside of Sedona. Stayed in a tiny home for the 1st time (admittedly getting a little old to be climbing up/down a latter to a loft bed), and it was actually kinda fun for the couple of nights.

We spent some time exploring Sedona, and even managed to find a new spot we hadn’t seen before (we visit Sedona several times a year)

Hit the pub for a couple pints after the hike (this grenadier just makes we want to talk like an Englishman…😁...). We even parked behind an older Defender 110

Capped the trip off with an over-landing trip with the Arizona Land Rover Group. We hit the Casner Mountain trail which runs from Flagstaff, up and over Casner Mountain (6837’), and down in to Sedona. This is a locked trail, and the forest service only provides 20 access permits per year. We were fortunate enough to do it 2 years ago in our 2020 Defender with the LR group, so jumped at the chance to do it again; this time in the Grenny.

Hello, we love Sedona too. We have been there twice when we were travelling North and central Amerika 1 year, respectivly. In Sedona we spent roughly 3 weeks. In the Mc Donald we watched the election of Donald Trump in 2016. This year we will revisit this beautiful place on our 5 month trip again. May be at your election in November!
But on your picture of the poison ivy I can not see poison ivy. I see only brambles with their thorns. I can still remember poison ivy near a though moutain bike trail in Sedona.
As far as I can remember Bear Moutain trail was the most beautiful trail for us in Sedona. And don`t forget the old gold mine in Jerome. It`s an outstanding museum, even without the late owner!
Enjoy your Grenadier, Hans from Germany!
PS: We are travelling in our Ford Transit Nugget, not with our real Defender SW 110, this truck will go on Safari in Southern Afrika next year again! For 4-wheel drive trails in North Amerika, we will use our mountain bikes( Moab e.g.).

The CRIT'Air sticker (air quality certificate) has arrived and has been stuck directly onto the windscreen. From now on, nothing stands in the way of our journeys in France (from an administrative point of view ;)).

It's a shame that there are no standardised stickers throughout Europe, because at some point the windscreen will become too small.

What are the stickers for. Do the stickers signify that your vehicle meets certain emission standards and if so why don’t they use number plate recognition cameras.

View attachment 7858251Bittersweet weekend.... went to Gold country, up in the Sierra by Sierra City. Greanadier, was amazing, light trails felt like I was on the highway. Lots and lots of looks and compliments.

Sadly, my beloved German Shepherd died this weekend unexpectedly of a heart attack (most likely). I was with him until the end. He passed away comfortably on his pillow in the back of my Grenadier. 😢
C64 - sorry for your loss, and ease your pain knowing he served you to the very end.

Hey man - really sad to hear about your dog. Post a nice photo of him in the DOG THREAD and tell us a little bit about his life. I'm a dog lover and would love to hear about your faithful companion.

Yes, the stickers signify that the vehicle meets certain emission standards - but cameras? Some countries seem to like it very old school. 😂

The U.K. relies on cameras for everything. No stickers in the windscreens for anything. ANPR cameras everywhere. They can tell if mot is current ,if insured, age and correspondingly what emissions standards vehicles meet

The U.K. relies on cameras for everything? Well, for some people this may sound like "1984 - Big Brother is watching you" - but in the end you have a sticker free windscreen. (y)

Drove the loan Petrol Grenadier from Wiltshire to Loch Katrin in The Trossachs . Rained all the 8.5 hours but it took a commanding position on the miles of spray soaked roads .
Wife took a share of the drive too. Best consumption 23.7mpg.
Shame it wasnt in my Diesel Fieldmaster but that was rejected and my new build is set to be with me in June.

The French are cheap and and take personal privacy very seriously. ANPR use is very much restricted to specific areas of law enforcement.

The sticker is so any law enforcement officer can see if the vehicle has a right to be there. (You cannot buy a waiver to drive in a restricted zone like London).

Hey Hans!
Bear Mountain is on our list, but with my wife’s extreme fear of heights, we’re working our way up to being ready for that one. So hike’s like Devil’s Bridge are definitely off our list all together. Still plenty to see in Sedona, for sure. Next time you’re there, do not pass up the opportunity (after a morning of hiking) to grab a sandwich and beer at Hilltop Deli in west Sedona.

I’m an Arizona Native, and I know less than nothing about poison ivy….. so I am far from the most educated person to talk about it. My wife grew up in Pennsylvania, and was around it quite a bit apparently; so between her experiences and the iPhone app, we chose to stay clear. Better safe than itchy….. 😁

Safe travels my friend!

Oh ya, we spent 10 days or so in Moab this past fall, and did some great hiking/biking/4-wheeling. Not near enough time, so we can’t wait to go back.

Felt weird to give a 👍 to your post, but it looks like a beautiful spot.

It’s amazing how hard it actually is to lose a pet. You don’t really understand until you’ve been through it. Clearly your German Shepherd was loved, and I believe he knew so, and rewarded you with love and good memories. Cherish those.
