If that vehicle is flat in both X,Y plane, then you have a long-term problem and yes, your paint will fail. When scum, acids, hydrocarbons etc etc rest on your roof and through continual wetness, it will deteriorate the paint. Surely others on this forum have seen this problem if present in certain vehicles - anyone else? I live near salt, or not far from salt water and that would be a bad outcome for such conditions.
I noticed the same when I wash the car.

OK, yes, the vehicle is not on a 100% flat surface but ever so slightly down on the left hand side. But it’s a NEARLY flat surface. And no, it’s not a joke. It’s a legitimate question about the potential problem of this over time.

Here is the issue 24hrs later…

A dirty hard water mark where the rain has evaporated. And yes, it’s a vehicle and therefore movable but unless I drive the car shortly after it stops raining, I need to clean the roof to prevent this. Otherwise this will happen week after week until the paint deteriorates.

I’ve had several original Defenders and they never had water traps like this.
Just out of curiosity, you roof to my eye and those photos almost looks concave (middle of roof sitting lower than external drop folds) - just in general. My eyes are playing a trick maybe. I have not seen this on a modern vehicle to be honest and ponding water of any kind on paint (protected or not with an aftermarket applied coating) is not good... its a genuine problem and dealer needs to know... if a design flaw it would be another to add to the list of the growing!

You get ponding too on your roof? Well, I must admit you two are first to report this properly here unless I missed some prior issue raised by others. I have salt not 20 meters from my driveway!!!

That was my view as well, we live 5 miles away (as the crow flies) from the wettest place in the UK - Eskdalemuir.

Well that is a depressing description of your home
Unless of course Eskdalemuir is the name of a sundrenched tropical beach

No I'm afraid, the only thing that Eskdalemuir is known for is Samye Ling a Buddhist monastery

Now I know why my great grandfather moved to Australia from our home town.

They were farmers and after a few bad years they were broke.
Two of them came to Australia and one went to the US.
Back in the late 1800's
All the land now between Boreland and Eskdalemuir was requisitioned in the 1950s and is planted as commercial forestry. My neighbours land was known as "9 Mile Farm" before it was " acquired for Forestry.

I was surprised when I did a search before posting this thread that no-one had come across this before. Having said that, it's not all that common that you have a constant view of your roof on such a high vehicle. I just happen to have mine parked right below my living room windows.
