VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

Sorry, VIN should read SC6GN2DBOPF000XXX - RHD 5 seat Station Wagon commercial diesel
So guess is:
WMI = World Manufacturer Identifier
SC6 = Ineos Automotive Ltd

VDS = Vehicle Descriptor Section
G = Grenadier
N = Commercial (M = Car/Passenger, N = Commercial)
2 = Right hand drive (1 = Left hand drive, 2 = right hand drive)
D = diesel? (Not had a petrol yet)
BO = body type? (Choices are AX, BO, BX)

VIS = Vehicle Indicator Section
P = 2023 model year
F = Hambach plant
000xxx = sequential number

Is the part we currently deem to be for the body type (Choices are AX, B7, BO, BX so far) perhaps indicating “Trialmaster”, “Fieldmaster”, Utility 2 seater or Utility 5 seater?

I would appreciate when VINs are posted here, that at least some further information is given (edition (“Trialmaster”, “Fieldmaster”, “Utility”), number of seats, engine (Diesel or petrol), Country delivered to), so we can better figure out what the VINs mean. Any information missing?

Fieldmaster, petrol, 5 seats, UK

Little hint, all the chassis numbers I have. M is always followed by 1 and N is always followed by 2.
Thanks. 👍

So that seems further proof that 1 = Left hand drive, 2 = Right hand drive in not right. It's a good riddle - as if it's directly tied to the M or N status, and the assumption stands that they indicate passenger or commercial, it could be a dummy digit.

Or M = petrol and 1 = gearbox ZF 8HP51
And N =diesel and 2 = gearbox ZF 8HP76

I've left "cracking" the code alone for a while as partly it really needs a bigger population to cross reference, but mostly because it's outside of my skill set.

Thanks. 👍

M is definitely passenger and N is commercial checking through my chassis numbers.

So the D or A after M1/N2 is diesel or petrol, D for Diesel and A for Petrol. Going of my chassis numbers.

I'm going to have a stab at body types.

Choices are AX, BO, BX so far.

A = side panels
B = side windows
X = solid roof
O = safari windows
Not sure. My vin doesn’t contain A or X. It has side panels, roofs and I don’t think the letter O is in any vin..
