Trump announces 25% tariff on all imported vehicles!

I think it's big enough to kill grenadiers everywhere. Maybe they'll stumble along for a few years because they already have production going, but there won't be any justification to make a new model.

I should probably go buy some stellantis stock now.

Totally agree. I'm at a loss, why penalise Europe? What is the expected benefit of this?

Many manufacturers from Europe and Japan have invested heavily in the USA.

He has hit the wrong countries, he should have gone for China with a 50% tariff as China with their dumping policy (hugely subsidised cars) will kill the entire worlds car manufacturers.

As per title - I fear this action will kill the Grenadier in the USA, its largest market.

Lynn Calder had already anticipated this in the existing pricing - see previous media releases. Plus commercial trucks already have the chicken tax which was accounted for prior to US pricing decisions so it’s no different. IMO this is a non event for Ineos sales in the USA.

Hope you are right!

So you're saying they already built in an extra 25% in and they're raking us over the coals while failing to fix a multitude of issues in a reasonable time frame?

he is doing it because that's what his hardline supporters want to hear.
The offset is that Europe and other countries will start to cancel $Billions of weapons orders and projects on US manufacturers.
France may lose the Grenadier plant but they are one of Europe's largest arms manufacturers.
This is a pretty good series of videos that has some great facts and isn't just a Trump bashing piece like so many others.
Just ignore the splash page with the bad picture and it is very interesting 6 part series.

Nope. I’m saying they wore the chicken tax as a cost of gaining entry to the US market. Hence why there’s belt tightening all round at Ineos. The rest of the world appears to be subsidising US sales.

His Highness has actually suggested that he may give China "a little reduction in tariffs" in exchange for approvals necessary to sell TikTok.

Exactly this. No need for knee-jerk reactions. Any entity running a large company that has a large portion of their business with the USA has likely been making a plan for the change in administrations.

You can't take this shit too seriously. The man is severely mentally ill, and it will be held up by thousands of lawsuits. The lunatics are highly insecure and suffer from many capacitative ailments. The weak-minded will lash out loudly in fear and confusion when the realities of the world are too much for them to comprehend. This man can not conjugate a verb or even finish a sentence correctly.

I hope that they make the Grenadier in the US. It is a key market, supplier BMW is already here and, if the Quartermaster is subject to the chicken tax, manufacturing it here would change the economics. I think I read that Lynn Calder had looked at it a few years ago.

The new 25% is on top of the chicken tax.

as @Brad@SuperiorCO pointed out this is in addition to, and the chicken tax only applies to the Quartermaster, not the station wagon... Ineos is eating about 8-9% of the 25% chicken tax, not the entirety
