Trump announces 25% tariff on all imported vehicles!

Except the point of this entire thing was to make a deal with China, and he just went to 125% on them.
Yeah, I mentioned the spin.

But no, the stock market touching bear market territory (-20%), 10-year yield spiking on treasury selloff, crypto also down almost 30%, means capital was fleeing all assets and they got rightfully spooked when neither the Fed nor China blinked. I think this next earnings season is going to be pretty rough. Also, thought this was all to bring manufacturing to the US, now its all about China? I'm getting whiplash

The goal is China, everything else he's doing is a ruse. You can suggest "we're spooked" but this is the game he plays every time. It is some outlandish thing in order to position some negotiation. I agree with you it is wild but I highly doubt it has anything to do with being spooked. This is literally some juvenile game he plays we've seen over and over again.

Alternatively, Ineos could contract with BMW to manufacture the Grenadier in Spartanburg. It would spread some of BMW's fixed costs so improving BMW's profitability on the margin, limit BMW's risks of ownership of Ineos while overcoming Ineos' lack of experience in building its own manufacturing capacity.
Could work but still doesn't fix the tariff problem.
Even BMW are just an assembly plant
They still import engines and gearboxes etc.
100% of the components of the Grenadier would need to be imported
