My fabric cable tie is holding strong but it would be classy to swap the pins. One of these days...

Since it worked OK for 20k km, and you can get diff lock OK, I'm wondering if it isn't a cable connection issue 🤔
I have 50,000 k on mine now and still on occasion it won’t go in. However rolling back with steering input always fixes it.

I had exactly the same problem this morning. It was -4 overnight and I needed to move a horsebox through a muddy paddock. No issue with diff lock but it won't, no matter what I did ( roll, turn) go into low ratio. However after 10 minutes of engine running and the transfer temperature up to + 6 it went in with no trouble

Interesting… Damp inside the Bowden cable, freezing and sticking the inner to the outer???
I can’t see how the oil temp could make much difference apart from a little stiffness perhaps.

The temperature would get rid of any ice though

Lost my low ratio altogether this morning. No issues with diff lock. Spoke to Lloyds Allroad, at Carlisle, and then called in this afternoon. They sorted it in 10 minutes, it was the Bowden cable adjuster under the inside transfer leveler, had come adrift. Their service is excellent. I'm very fortunate in having a very good dealer that is very close to my location.
