Trailer Wiring and Hitch Install - All aftermarket

Hi All, I installed Oscar's hitch receiver, looks great to me, comes complete with bolts and lock washers. Simple install, just take off the little cover plate and bolt it up. His wiring setup wasn't quite done yet, so I just went down to the local U-haul and had them do the wiring setup for me. $850, and that includes the Curt wireless brake controller. The install looks good-might be another option for those trying to get it sorted.

Interested in the Curt wireless brake controller. So you've used it and confirmed that it will activate electronic trailer brakes? Curious what you are/planning to tow?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, I haven't towed anything yet, but this thing is in pretty widespread use, so I'm feeling ok about it working. It links to your phone, so you can pre-set profiles in it for different trailers. I have 2 things to tow, one camper that's a mere 1700lbs, and also a 7kgvw flatbed (maybe 5k actual max depending on what I've got on it). I'll set the gain quite high for that, but it'll be a few months until I actually use it. It apparently has an inertial mechanism of some sort that modulates the brakes based on deceleration. Quite a bit online about it, but I thought it would be a good first thing to try just because of the ease of installation.

Be a while before I can report back with any real world experience.

Good luck.

Many thanks for the reply. Will look into it more because it just seems like a no-brainer solution than the wiring work around everyone is having to do.
