Someone was asking about impact of effective gearing on tire size changes. There are good websites that let you compare two sizes at once but I wanted to see a whole bunch at the same time. So here's a spreadsheet I made back in the fall when I was making a decision.

Those are probably common upgrade sizes for the Grenadier but I've attached the spreadsheet below if you want to play.

I'm not sure where the original data was sourced from but the MT Baja Boss 255/85/17 is 34.6" tall according the the manufacture. Also most 35" tires are 34.4" or 34.5" tall. The same thing goes for 37" tires, most are about .5" short of their advertised diameter.

Yup. Specific brands and even batches will vary. Hell, whether you're running 25, 35, or 40 PSI will change a "35 inch tire" into several other diameters. A "35" is probably more like a "315", not a "318" as my spreadsheet suggests.

For the purpose of my spreadsheet, I assumed a "285" was "285 mm" and a "35" was "35 inches". It's a broken assumption but gets you into the ballpark.

I really wanted to just include the spreadsheet so you can plug your own manufacturer measurements into it. But the forum wouldn't let me.

Manufacturers simplify and lie for market reasons.

EDIT: Weird. Forum doesn't let me attach the actual spreadsheet doc. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Sorry.
xls and xlsx should both work.
