TBH, I can think of at least five places I would put gear, more secure and better located than a mole panel. I think they are 100% a money grab.

Yea. maybe it's where I'm used to being offroad, in the northeast. I've seen the rear quarters of trucks get squished. I think many people here just mount them to look tacticool and drive around with them. On the other hand if this truck came in a 4 window panel van configuration (a real commercial iteration), There are defiantly places I've been the extra security wouldn't hurt.

I am not investing 1c in anything that can otherwise be made in China eventually, for 1/4 the price. I am done with Europeans (and their colonies) taking the piss on costs.

Here is another example, a 16 foot tinny (a small aluminium boat/punt basically) sells for $25K in Oz, new. What... with a 40hp Tohatso - you got to be kidding.

The Chinese knock offs on EBay and Amazon are currently just as expensive!

I had one the earlier "new broncos" and we called this the "Bronco Tax". Everything was twice the cost of the same thing for a Jeep. The Bronco accessories are finally coming down to Jeep accessory prices. I suspect the same will happen with the "Grenadier Tax" but it will take a few years.

We called it the Hummer tax. The majority of the spare parts in a Hummer's (H1) were standard parts bin equipment from Ford & GM. Go to an auto parts store of an air or oil filter and the price was laughably higher.

Internal is different!
A cargo barrier is essentially a molle panel. Add as much mesh etc as you need to keep stuff organised and safe from damage, thieves..

Before you start.. I know I'm being a whinner with a first world problem but I'm going to do it anyway. And, I'm sure someone will say, if you feel like that.. just don't buy it. But at some point you have to push back.

I've accessorized my IG with quality products from the name brands, Bison, Leitner, Owl etc. Some of it required the manufacturer to invest in costly development and testing and for that they should be compensated. However, I'm drawing the line at molle side panels. There is no way they should cost $500 to $600 per side for what they are. I understand and support capitalism but I feel the companies selling molle panels are gouging us because we drive IGs.

I hate to use Bison as an example because they are a great company but the problem is well illustrated on their website. Compare what a molle panel for a Jeep costs compared to the IG. The IG mount is stainless and a bit more complicated but not $300 more. So.. talk among yourselves, appoint a spokesman, and reply with the alternative point of view. I will go find some frozen margaritas with salt and come back when I'm slurring my words when I type.

I'm wishing for a nice clean flush metal replacement for the rear glass. The cargo bay in this really is a head shaker, and that stupid rear ltrack I guess is the reason for the armored car slits too small for practical GullWing brand door conversions, but I'd still be cool with a solid plate. I've chewed on having the hot rod shop a few blocks away fill it in, but then I have to repaint the entire rear, and paint is just stupid spendy anymore. Meh, I say!

I don't love the idea to place my Jerry can in the trunk or on the roof. Over the gas tank fill tube and on the molle mounted over the rear window worked great for me. And a perfect position for a gas jiggler to transfer the gas to my tank.

I dont mind so much that it scratches up on trails as branches scrape against it.

I have a molle as a cargo barrier separator that I hung some soft bags on. Works well for me.

I liked the ladder with the gas can mount but it was so eye bleedingly expensive that I just could not justify it.

But I would consider a long range tank underneath.

This is the problem we face world wide at the moment... everything is silly re: costs. I have never been one to part with money for the sake of it... and I wont start now.

Thinking this is the best solution for serious offroad makes me wonder about the users experiences also. There's definitely no advantage in tight brush, and this isnt an old school narrow defender. It really limits versatility.

In a wide open area like double track thru Nairobi, the American west, vast Australia? Absolutely doable, and one can put it above the fuel filler like the Dahl guy did. The downside being, at some point you have that obstructive thing hanging off the side on a normal road. And then there's the reality, that if you find it so physically difficult to manipulate a 5g jerry can, you're gonna have a hell of time with a tire, and maybe you need to rethink where you are in life. I used to toss a 37 on, now I stare at a 33 like a nemesis. Those french canal trips on small barges are a sweet 10 days I can tell you that.

In the end I look at it like a flow chart and it fails to all other options, It would ba a last resort. If you really need fuel that bad, remove the ladder you're never gonna use, and put a 300 dollar dual carrier there, or spend the 2000 on the 25 gallon tank, with the weight down low. To match the 25 gallon tank, you need two pieces of molly sheetmetal with 4 good cans with mounting brackets. You're getting rammed for almost 2g, your truck looks like bozo the clown going down the street, and you still need to stuff another 5 gallon somewhere. Maybe the 1500 dollar letech ladder... lol.

I paid 2500 for a red frame and white top that serve no purpose, so clearly I'm not immune to vanity, but, I swear people buying this shit are office managers that 10 years ago were the worker bees sitting in 6x6 cubicle's parking their decked out Subaru's sporting 27" mt's, empty Yakima baskets, and 20 dollar amazon driving lights in the office lot. They got a big pay bump, and here we are.

Indeed they are , esp if you pilot your own boat and can find a good park for the night!
Far better than coach trips or fighting traffic.
