Tirade About Molle Panel Cost

Because those Swedish ones are so overpriced.

Fair enough, but I would never strap fuel to the side of my vehicles, and I would never put a full Jerry on the side airline rails 1-inch from the rear quarter glass. Just me…

I use NATO cans and have never had one leak, ever. A roof rack is also indispensable to me.
Ideally I wouldn’t strap fuel top the side either but in my case I dont have a roof rack (yet). And I need more space in the cargo area (work purposes) so my only option is to carry on the side.

Interesting side note was just the other day I needed gas. Having the vehicle about 10 months now I’ve realized that I typically fill up around 320-325 miles after previous fill up and it usually takes about 21-22 gallons. Last week I was an around 317ish miles and hit the wall…by 318 I was stalled on the side of the road. Had to dig one of the Jerry cans out of the back and throw in a couple of gallons. I was about 1 mile away from the gas station.

You got me! There is always a caveat - I will NEVER buy a China car. I can see the value in the EU made car (our Grens) but not a $700 little piece of flat Aluminium with holes in it, and a nice cheap powder coat finish.
 
You bought 3 though and it was still half the price, and so, if one blows up you just use the next one!
It's quite funny that cheap battery tools I bought 15 years ago expecting them to last a few goes are still going.
Don't ask me how.
Maybe they were made in Japan?
 
There's a whole host of reasons why Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic are cost effective places to manufacture automotive parts (and cars)

Yes, labour costs are a bit lower, but it is more about the availability of skilled labour, a strong aftermarket, stable economies and a culture manufacturing.

I work at sea with people from all over Europe, especially Poland and Romania. My comment was not in any way meant to be derogatory. It was my understanding that the cost of labour and the high taxes found in places like Germany and Switzerland, would have made Poland more competitive.
For the record I myself have purchased from Bison and have no complaints about the quality or the price.
I have possibly been misled by the people I know in the classic car world who have taken their cars and motorcycles to Eastern Europe for rebuilding, as it made financial sense. Here in UK, labour can be over £100.00 per hour. I didn’t know that would be the same in Poland.
I think you’re absolutely right in what you say there. Competitive is a good way to describe former eastern bloc countries, but that competitive edge is being eroded. If you compare the LeTech roof rack to the Bison, there’s still a difference (quality not withstanding).
Another thing you might be correct on, is that I have an acquaintance who services Landcruisers, and folks from all over Europe come to CZ specifically to get his service. It’s not only that it’s probably cheaper (than Austria for example), but there is a strong culture of manufacturing and mechanical know how.

I have an Ozito drill... now 12 years old. It has been to hell and back, 2x FULL home renos + 8 years on the job. Probably done about 400 hours of actual drilling - and it outlasted my mates Milwaukee and Dewalt gear! It is also half the weight of the crap they build now... so I can use it day without getting RSI!!!
 
I'm not saying current designs are deficient, I was just curious if you were going to start from scratch, what, if anything, would you want/do differently.

Hi -- I'm also curious :) as we're designing a new Molle panel and I want to make sure it has every feature possible (within being too over the top!). We'll have more posted on it soon.
 
I just ordered a 4 pack of these. I plan on using 2 to mount a Jerry can as shown all the time and finding a generic/Jeep Molle panel to swap/replace the second Jerry can with depending on what my needs are. I like that flexibility and can get a generic panel for $80-$100 on Amazon. Once I get them in, I’m also going to see how far forward I can mount a Jerry can holder and if it would be nice to have a half-window sized molle panel next to it on the same side.

Have you tried putting 4 of your mounts on 1 side, 2 with a Jerry can and 2 with a half-window size mole panel? I’m wondering if that would be too small to be useful or very useful.

Part of the issue is the power ports block some of the spots where we would mount the rails. We can get 3 rails nicely across, but a 4th gets very crowded. We're finalizing a Molle panel design now (that should be amazing) to add to the options we have. And thank you very much for the order!
