New windshield has cracked after only a couple of weeks. Pretty disappointing. Ink isn’t even wet on the check from the insurance claim if they have paid it.Just had mine replaced. Glass installer had to get it from Ineos. Luckily they had one available. My guess is it’s a good business to have these on hand as parts. The trim surrounding alone was over $300 according to the glass company. Fortunately I have glass coverage through insurance.

What was ExoShield cost?I had ExoShield installed last week at a local shop and am hopeful it will perform as advertised. You have to look really close to see it, so I’m happy with how it turned out.

Just got the bill for a tiny screen chip in the hire car we just returned at Auckland airport. $2040.I feel for you man!!!
Just look at my earliest posts on the forum, I had similar issues with me previous vehicle
It became worrisome every time a truck passed me on the other side of the road
Sharing is caring I hope because no one can actually help!
I seriously considered paying the $1200 (NZD) to have a protective film applied, and this would be my only suggestion.
But seriously I do feel for you!![]()
BuggerJust got the bill for a tiny screen chip in the hire car we just returned at Auckland airport. $2040.
The amount of trucks and roadworks in NZ greatly exceeds anything we've met in 20 (developed) countries!
I'd be getting that film for sure if I lived here.
We will just use our CC travel insurance cover.Bugger. I will be taking out windscreen cover when I go to New Zealand next year

So the rental company charged that amount for a chip and zero crack?Just got the bill for a tiny screen chip in the hire car we just returned at Auckland airport. $2040.

The company is Ezi. And yes, it's likely they will wait for a few more chips before they replace it. I wonder if the insurance agent will request proof of fix. I doubt whether we'll ever be privy to that info.So the rental company charged that amount for a chip and zero crack?
I bet they will not even fix it until it’s cracked!
Was it a late model rental company (major brand)?
Shocking
And you are absolutely right about the amount of roadwork with shoddy material management leading to excessive loose stones everywhere!
Apart from that I hope you had a great time![]()
What a wonderful place. It’ll be my third visit in six years when I go again next year. The company is Ezi. And yes, it's likely they will wait for a few more chips before they replace it. I wonder if the insurance agent will request proof of fix. I doubt whether we'll ever be privy to that info.
Ah well. NZ was absolutely great again. 4th visit in 10 years.
Last day today and then straight back to Tassy.
Around $750. Comes with a 2-yr warranty that includes a $1,000 credit towards a replacement or insurance deductible. What was ExoShield cost?
I have asked the same questions. I have an MY23 INEOS that has recently had three cracked / replaced windscreens (four cracks in total) in less that four months. All originated from small stone impacts on highways from on coming traffic. New Zealand road chip seal being very poor quality is causal factor, maybe very bad luck, or INEOS have a glass quality issue.my original windshield lasted 7 days and finally 3 months later got replaced this week. 3 days later and another rock from the road just made another 3 foot+ crack.
Has anyone else replaced multiple windshields too? I’m starting to think this could be a design flaw or possibly low quality glass being used by Ineos. I’ve cracked one windshield bad enough to need replacement in 20 years of driving jeeps and pickup trucks. And 2 on a Grenadier so far this year…
I’m hoping my insurance doesn’t drop me after two $2000 windshields in a week
If you anyone reading this is from Ineos Automotive or an attorney and would like to look into this further with me, please reach out.
