You really think they’re bringing up the warning nag based on interrogating the BMW ECU??

Your BMW example was interesting, but it is for a different car.

Personally, I’d put actual cash money on the Grenadier head unit having a very basic algorithm that essentially says

if ( odometer > 11000 OR date > last_service_date + 11 months ) {
nag
} else
do nothing
}

(It might not even be that clever. Who knows if they’re tracking the last service date. Failing to update it might explain some of the recent spurious warnings people have been seeing though. Thinking of @Jean Mercier)

If it is a simple distance+date check, I’m not disappointed. I’m glad that Ineos Automotive aren’t trying some clever warn-us-when-the-engine-is-tired complex wizardry. It’s hard enough to get the basics right, as we’ve seen, so even reusing BMW’s IP I suspect they’d struggle to make it sensible/fair/predictable.
I agree with your view that it is purely mileage/date based, in my case mileage!

I have just had a software update to the latest version. I am now getting warning when I get in and when driving warning me "Service in 11926m" It keeps flashing up as I'm driving, is this what everone is experiencing? Is there anyway to turn it off ?

That's also what I have: service in 19000 km. Very annoying. And "1946" latest software update.

At version 1946 of the software update, it is clearly (Service section of Vehiucle Functions)
  • Days (remainder of 365)
  • Hours (remainder of I don't know what but I am picking maybe 480 hrs based on my rough guesses of speed averages and the odometer)
  • Distance - in kms (And I am seeing 15000kms - 7900 ODO and 7122km to service interval - I assume my delivery kms was 22)
Exclude the glare of the photo - but obviously service at hours equates to lots of offroad driving and engine use versus odo and yes must be services at least yearly

Can't see anywhere to suppress the settings in the user/customer functions. However at version 1946 (which I have been on since it was provisionally released in Aus) I am not seeing the service note flash up and I am about just over half way on both counters - I would understand if I only a 1000kms, 1 month or 30 hours to go.

(And on my last trip towing I was getting Tyre pressure alerts for High (the rears) for half the trip flashing up over the ODO/Fuel part of the screen when I was 1 psi over the engineers thoughts over what constituted high, or couldn't execute a cold reset on a couple of days with tyres pressure changes).

So certainly an ability to accept an alert for time period would be useful like for the rest of the journey or at least 2 hours, or till next ignition off.

I spoke to Jason at Chandlers yesterday and apparently the messages can be suppressed/moderated/restricted from within the dealer software options. It might be worth asking come service or warranty time?
I was at my dealer to pick up my Grenadier after the software update and I mentioned that I had been getting an error that said "111 days to service" and it was flashing when driving. After the software update it is still there but saying "Service in 11962m" The people at the dealer did not seem to know how to disable it. The reason I know this is wrong for my vehicle is I have only done 900miles in the vehicle since I've owned it so it should not be displaying servicing messages.

As far as I know, no way to disable it, and in my case they couldn't even reset it after my service at 20000 km :-(

Speed limit change
Exceeding the speed limit
Lane departure warning
Service advisories
Tire pressure...

I don't need this much communication from anyone, let alone my truck.

Mine is the same at 4800 miles, service due in 41 days and an loud bong on start up. I assume it's a year since being built as I have only had the car 6 months.

My car is also 1 year old, about 15000 km so far, software update current. Since 45 days before the scheduled service I also have the extremely loud bong every time I start the engine. With the bong it displays the remaining time in days, but only for one second. You really have to concentrate to read it.
Imagine beeing out hunting and trying to be as quiet as possible and then you get the bong that must be audible for miles. Horrible!

I am sure they did not have the time. But bench marking things like this would have helped. Engineers will NEVER make something like this make sense. I LOVE the fact that oil life calculators take into account towing, off road, and so on. I really enjoy it on my Ram. But the Ram has a big notice that pops up with a single ding, and other notices over time that you hardly even notice, but yet you do not forget you need an oil change. Then again, EVERY one should Bench Mark Ram for stuff like that. They really nail it.

Mine flashes a message that it's 16,021days overdue.... dealer says it's a known glitch post the recent software upgrade. I'll get it sorted sometime down the track at the sched. July service. There's no onboard display button-push sequence to delete it. Requires the Ineos scan tool "apparently"...

Team - I have been reading the various Forum posts and this seems like the most logical place to ask the question as it has appeared a number of times with no response so I am going to try and ask this as clearly as possible. “What is the service reset procedure on the Grenadire? Do you need the dealer software (I doubt it)? I am planning to do all of my own service and never see the dealer, unless there is a warranty issue so knowing how to handle the reset would be great.” I currently have two 200 series LC’s (2011 and 2020) and they are both simple. I have to imagine that INEOS realized this needs to be a simple procedure, but there has to be a procedure. I have 850 miles on the clock and plan to change the oil around 2k and I have not intention of driving to the dealer in Dallas as I am in San Antonio.
Thanks!!!!

It has not been publicly released. My local dealer/agent said that it was reset using their ODB tools.

Yes all dealers say that about their models, bring it in they need to use their "specialist equipment" to reset things. ( and there is only a small charge Sir) In reality there is usually a short cut work around.
My wife's car has the quirkiest to reset the oil change " ignition on, do not start, press throttle to the floor three times in quick succession, and then ignition off.
It works and saves me 180 mile round trip to a dealer.
