Yes, that’s correct. The accelerated wear could have been detectable at our previous service so it may be as simple as confirming that your agent/service provider have paid specific attention to those inboard rear pads.wow, thanks for the update! the detail and pictures are super helpful. so the interior pads wore down almost completely and severed the sensor wire? Will be interested to see if there is some adjustment that everyone should make to avoid the wire being worn through?

I’ll unpack the wash down outfit at Halifax and repeat the exercise hopefully without getting so wet and filthy again.
OK, so an update on the above issue which will be of interest to the long-rangers/remote area users on the forum.
The Gren is known to consume inside rear brake pads. We will be an extreme example as Iggy has done an unusual amount of high-speed backcountry/gravel roads… not to mention 1200 dunes at or near maximum GVM. This despite a comparatively low odometer of 43,000kms.
Inboard versus outboard starboard side rear caliper. The small notch is the mounting location for the brake wear sensor:

Ours was being held together by caked on muck, so be sure to clean things down properly before inspecting.
I have a theory...@globalgregors Did they check/inspect that your calliper is functioning correctly? The only time I have seen a significant difference in wear between outside and inside brake pads was if the brake caliper slides were seized or the caliper piston was not retracting properly after being applied. Your pictures definitely show abnormal wear and should not be dismissed without finding the root cause.

Oh, that is interesting. Ineos have recommended halving the service interval for hard use, perhaps this is a contributing factor.FWIW I had to have my brake pads renewed at 18k miles
