Owl Eibach Lifts

Just had the Eibach 2.5" lift installed at the Owl location in Longmont CO - took awhile to get into their shop (they were moving from an old location to new) but once in, they got my lift installed in less time than quoted and so far so good. Crossing my fingers the driveshaft issues stay clear of my truck.

I got my lift and the King shocks from Owl, and they did the install (in Arizona). I've had no problems = at 13,300 miles now, about 10,000 of those miles were with the lift and 35's - I've only had the Kings for about 3,000 miles. I highly recommend them, they dramatically improved the ride.
I have the same springs and King kit. Around town the truck rides great and I have the dials turned to the most form, which is all clicks to the Right. However, I still have a ton of body roll and unstable feeling at highway speeds and I have to back off the accelerator on winding highway. Feels like I could slide right off the highway or worse. Leeroy, do you get this also?

Thanks,
Joe

That is interesting, I had OWL install mine in AZ last week and I took a long road trip and offroad adventure and found no real issues. They set me at 7 clicks but I moved it to 4 to get it more stiff. After I did that it removed my body role and effect by wind on my road tip. I would assume setting to max stiff would even of benefited that much more. Sounds like you are having the opposite then my findings. How loaded was the rig when you feel that? I was running with about 500lbs plus two passengers.

I don't have that issue and I drive faster than I should. It could be due to a lot of possible causes, like alignment/caster angle or steering damper. If possible, try driving another Grenadier and see if you feel the same way. I'm used to wobbly lifted SUV's so maybe I just don't notice it anymore after all of these years? But I never feel like I'm going to fall off the mountain.

Thanks. I'm going to play with the shock settings to see if that helps. Would the new items from Metalcloak improve stability? https://metalcloak.com/ineos-grenadier.html

I really don't think so, however they would seem to give more adjustability and maybe strength on the replaced components.
I've ordered the new Eibach front/rear swaybars. I'll report back once these are installed.

If they are coming out with thicker sway bars I wonder if this means a lowering kit will be next? Given that thicker sway bars are the opposite of what you would want in any off road use case

They are also silver!!! lol

I was also hoping new bars maybe new disconnects coming.

This is a good thread for me. I am also considering Owl or Agile. Owl installer is 20 minutes from my house and Agile is 9 hours. Agile seems more involved in development but Owl is so close.

First Is it acceptable to just do the springs without the shocks? I know if I do this better to do them together if I will do shocks later just to avoid any possible issues created by the installs. In airplanes a maintenance event is the most likely time to break something.

Third is why get rid of the rake? If you are towing would that make the rear lower than the front? There must be a purpose of the rake from factory?

Second, if the vehicle will clear larger tires stock what is the real advantage of the lift? Is it truly a lift if the tires don’t get larger? Or is the body just raised off the frame more. Maybe more articulation possibility but without tires the diffs and contact points are still at the same height? I am sort of new to suspension stuff because since my LR3 and my Defender just push the height button. Lifts are either Subframe or Johnsons Rods on LAnd rovers.

I haven’t done the lift yet. I think what I am going to do is wait. I think my next set of tires will be the larger Mickey Thompson 255/85R17s. That should give me a little bump.

My biggest concern is weight over clearance. It’s unclear to me if the taller springs will give me more carrying capacity. But if i am going to change the springs anyway because I need to carry more, I might as well go taller anyway.

Early on they were saying it is ok to do springs without shocks, now everyone says do both. I’m not sure if there is anything driving that change, or if it was just people trying to sell springs for the trucks before options for shocks existed.

We’d need someone smarter than me to weigh in.
