Owl Bull Bar

Oh yeah, vendors are taking us for a ride and not the fun kind
If someone made a bull bar of solid quality and a fair price would shut down all the others. The cost of these bull bars is more than I paid for a full bumper with custom bull bar on my LX470....wow I am going to wait on bull bar and stuff until more competition or someone decides that they dont need to charge as much for a bull bar as an entire bumper especially if already making them for at least one other vehicle.

This one is not too bad. For CA tuned. I have no experience with it. The bracket i got for my TJM compressor pump was good even if the wiring harness and instructions were not. Little more than $1000. Can’t imagine anyone having one less than that. Especially in this market.

Does anyone here have LFD's center bumper winch module installed with an Owl bull bar (pic below with the OEM bull bar)? I am curious to see what that looks like (and whether everything fits well together). Next to an all welded solution, this seems to be the best combo (to me) at the moment (although I am keeping my powder dry until Dissent's offering actually comes online - they sure do know how to tease). If you have the LFD/Owl combo, please post a pic.

Great question-n I hope LFD gets them back in stock, I will surely take one!

I’d say take my money “Owl” but I just can’t get past that lower outer corner and blunt end of the tubing detail. Everything else about the bar looks top notch and amazing but that lower corner looks as if someone got to the end of the fabrication and didn’t quite know how to finish it off. I’m sure it would complicate fabrication to make it a nice finished curve… it’s so close to being perfect!

No offense to John or owl, I love their stuff, have spent $1000s on owl gear…. by GP-factor have figured it out. At the end of the day the debate comes down to what will be the point of failure upon impact with a large animal, as far as materials selection and construction goes.

It’s a terrible finished corner and the shape of it is strange.. it’s like someone with blocky head wearing cat eye glasses.

I had the same reaction when I initially saw it. To their credit, Owl addressed that criticism head on here:

I thought I would add some more information on the tube intersection. We wanted a very functional bullbar that would hold up in an impact against an animal. As a result we used a much thicker steel tubing as compared to the OEM. With the thicker stronger tubing you cannot bend a radius as tight as the OEM. If we went with thin OEM tube it would be a purely aesthetic bullbar.

We felt Grenadier customers would opt for function over form in this case. Hopefully that added context to our decision.

John (Owl)

Based on @GofastboatsMojito's pics posted above, it looks like Owl has started trimming the pigtail as close to the connecting bar as possible. The pigtail on that bar looks shorter than older pics of the bar I have seen.

That's cool. Having handled the GP Factor bullbar I'd hesitate to call it 'purely aesthetic' though. I'm fairly confident it'd hold up to hitting a deer (since im in US) pretty well. If you hit an elk, moose, or cow at speed though no bullbar is going to do a whole hell of a lot no matter the thickness of the tubing
