Opinions on land rover new Octa

“Our high-performance experts have achieved the impossible with Defender OCTA, working tirelessly over the past three years to create the most capable Defender ever made – regardless of which surface it is enjoyed on,” said JLR SVO director Jamal Hameedi.

“They have re-engineered components throughout the vehicle to ensure Defender OCTA is the perfect companion for epic adventures anywhere on the planet.”

Well Mr Hameedi has stated that they have had to re-engineer components...so what is wrong with all the New defenders...whoops
No mention of 4X4 except...regardless of which surface it is enjoyed on...the sand pit at the Kindy...the Polo grass...:ROFLMAO:

I would love the opportunity to have one on a beautifully manicured dirt road...flatout fun, then return it... 👍

My work-neighbour (runs a workshop) saw already some of these issues with Ford, VW and Audi. looking through car forums you'll find more.

Come on. I know you are smarter than that. “My work-neighbor” isn’t exactly quantifiable. Let me know when we have something like all the bad 2.7L V6’s that Ford is recalling or the shitshow that Toyota is dealing with or the M996 Porsche IMS bearing issue.

The thing with posts on Internet forums is that they have a self selection bias. I’m very certain you realize this.

Is there a Euro V8 that would offer reliability and lifetime to beat the B58 and tuning we've got? (I recognize our B58 and its tuning and mating to the drivetrain and weight of the Grenadier is also yet to be proven...)
Given the relatively low incidence of reported "generic" flaws in the B57/58 series engines as judged from BMW fora/(forums)🤔 I think (=hope) we can be pretty sure of a long and incident-free service life all other things considered. I am very pleased in hindsight I turned down an opportunity to own a TDV6 3L Disco 4: after my 9 yrs with a ("pre-loved" ) P38 Rangie. It seems the TDV6 crankshaft is a flawed design. There are also reports emerging of catastrophic failures in Toyota's V6 in the LC300 series... a seven bearing straight 6 seems the way to go!! Toyota used have one of the best in the business... shame!
