Ineos the brand...Jim Ratcliffe the brand builder...the strength and wealth the brand has, are the reasons for me being here...I was first interested in this man's idea of retooling the old Defender but then he opened a can of worms and the interest only became stronger...designs, engineering the rest is history and it would be like teaching you how to suck eggs...I was an early hand raiser like many here...the positivity has grown with the test drives...can not wait to drive a production model and look at the finishings...then hopefully pass $105,000AUD for a set of keys...I should get a spare, shouldn't I...happy times ahead

I have always liked cars that were a bit different and not what everyone else had.
I have always liked British cars and have owned about 15.
I always liked the concept of the old Defender but found the execution a bit crap
I am over the JLR customer experience
I am edging closer to retirement and this may well be my last expensive new car purchase and I thing the IG has the potential to go the distance.

I believe the Grenadier will definitely see me out after nearly 60 odd years driving 4x4 vehicles around Northern and Central Australia. As far as a real Bush Car is concerned this is definitely the flashiest that I have ever had. Wind up windows and no gear stick. Way back when I started with no upper side windows in the Army Land Rover and of course manual gearboxes along with a couple of other knobs to play with. It's only fitting that I save the best till last and I have a couple of adventures to complete up in the Rainforest Country and the Top End. Might see you all down the track, but bring your own folding chair and coffee mug.

Would be an absolute thrill to run across you in our Grenadiers out there in the bush

Utilitarian design, reasonable price (even more reasonable for early deposit holders), ability to tow and carry loads well, looks good dirty, open source approach to servicing, well designed options / accessories fitted by manufacturer, appeals to my contrarian nature.

- the fact that, as far as is possible, they took us along on the product development journey
- the fact that they have brought on board highly reputable tier 1 suppliers for all the really important systems and sub-systems
- the fact that the vehicle has been designed with a purity of intent that is unambiguous
- the fact that the vehicle meets all my needs and will last the rest of my lifetime (yes, it's a retirement vehicle)
- the fact that, to be honest, I found Toyota options either boring or old-fashioned and I found JLR offerings to be going away from where I and my needs are

- the fact that wifey drove it at Hanging Rock and loved it!

I'm fortunate that I can, and will, wait. I feel for those that can't and have to make other arrangements.

Cheers,
Steve

I just really like it.
It is liked Viagra with wheels
and like safari windows
and hi load wiring
and like diff locks
Oh yeah @DaveB , of course, I really like it too!
It's just that as I retire from a career in product development which included a reasonable chunk of Automotive, I have found it really refreshing and exciting to be 'part of' the journey too.

this is a place for only butterflies and Unicorns.
With this statement you have created a beautiful place in the forum.

I have been waiting for such a vehicle for 45 years now, and now, it's there. And I could now repeat everything you have written, which is superfluous: I agree in every respect.

Thank you so much. (y):)

I will be very surprised if this vehicle isn’t everything that I want and more. In short it will have to be an absolute dog to turn me off it…

There will definitely be no more cars like the Grenadier. That's why I ordered one. Maybe it's a good investment. Car history he has already written today. Despite the talk of those people who have not understood for which buyers the Grenadier is intended. It cannot replace an RR, a Discovery or a Toyota 300. Because it is exactly for this group of buyers that it was most likely not designed. If you want to buy a sports car, you don't buy a truck. So, most of the critical talk about the Grenadier is completely without substance. Better is always possible, of course. But did we expect the Grenadier to be so good? At least I didn't.

The two things I like most about the Grenadier are:
- the idea of bringing into the new century a concept that has been tested for more than seventy years and has become a consolidated point of reference (as a Porsche fan I am very attached to this idea, as well as to the Defender up to the Td4)
- the idea of relying for each component on a specialized supplier famous for its solid reliability, and making it public; I am a strong supporter of specialization, in times when fashion designers design cars, motorcycles and boats, and everyone, if with a little media visibility, feels like an expert in everything...

Sometimes i think i am silly beeing so excited about a car . But then i remember this is maybe the first product for the civilian market that the managers and the accounts had a back seat to . Someone with deep pockets went to the supermarket of giants of industry and picked lego bits off the shelf , and custom designed what ever he could not / wound not work . And then said stick this in your pipe and smoke it . Made us all pipe smokers :) ahahhah .
Joking aside turn key solution for all your needs from hauling , offroad , hunting , fishing , logging , roadtripping its all there ready to go . I think the day i heard about the project in my mind the sentence “how we get there “ became obsolete. There is only one answer “to the Grennn” .
For me the Gren is all that and likely my only car for the next 2 decades .

Bits i really like :
The roof switch gear
The nato plug at the back ( hope to be able to jump start people with it )
The barn doors ( have them in my Patrol and they are really useful)
The clean interior
The fact that it has nothing i do not want
The key !

Looking forward to my first road trip !!
