There seems to be a trend with modern vehicles of displaying fewer and fewer engine stats, but I really wish I could see more engine data. I’d really like to have at least Oil Temp (seems some have this, but maybe that’s just the diesel version?) and Oil Pressure. Has anyone used something like an OBDII device to get these gauges?

Hi JKAlpine,

A few seconds after you start the car up your centre touch screen will present options, put your finger on the offroad option, then a few seconds later put your finger on the temperature option and your oil temperature, tyre pressures, as well as many other useful things will be displayed.

I’m familiar with the temp screen. In the US (mine at least), only shows the Gearbox, Transfer, and Tire temps. The Oil temp is blank. I’ve seen others with this too, so I’m guessing this is a Petrol version issue.

Oil Temps are only displayed for the diesels, the oil temp was removed from the petrol vehicles during a software update in mid-2023

Any idea why they’d remove it?
From a senior product manager on the UK team, it was altered to "simplify the amount of data to the driver"... It was part of the update that also got rid of the wheel-specific torque values on the off road screen and a few other changes. If memory serves me this was the "1947" software update for MY23.

The feeling was that oil temp was more significant to watch in the diesel than the petrol

That’s really unfortunate, would be great to have a non-simplified screen option. :) I do love data.

Basically we are all too stupid now to have this information presented to us. Got it... ugh

Much like how on newer cars the temperature gauge is really more of an "idiot light" that will park itself in the usual "normal" spot regardless of actual temperatures/ cooling system load and only move once overheating is imminent.

I don't think the B58 is prone to cooking the oil even in a track situation. Unlike the V8.
And I believe it is designed to run hot for efficiency.
They did plenty of desert testing.

And they don’t know why the lots are full from models that arrived stateside more than a year ago all the nanny state garbage and this included. Lynn is incapable of listening!

There is a thread here on ODBC readouts started by @Michael H.. I will try and find it. He has the readout displaying thru Apple Airplay on the console.

EDIT: found it here. It is a diesel car from memory and no mention of oil temp, but it may be there. Maybe the petrol model owners can find it.
