I sent a linked in message to an Ineos fella with a long title in Tennessee asking when the service centers or abandonment thereof, will be announced. This is gnawing in my head.

I really hope for one, but whats the odds of an answer? :)

This was one of the reasons I felt comfortable in purchasing my IG. My closest dealer is 250 miles away. During the warranty period and I have an issue, who is going to pay for the 250 mile tow?
What have you been doing for service / warranty work? I am **this** close to pulling the trigger on a Grenadier this week; I spoke with someone at Carlock in Nashville who made it clear they would only be able to help with basic service (oil changes, etc.) but they did not have the diagnostic tool to ascertain larger issues - so then I called the Atlanta dealer (250 miles away), and their response was not too encouraging...basically I'd be responsible for arranging all transport of the truck, and Ineos would limit their liability to 100 miles of towing, leaving me with the other 400. If it's a breakdown issue I can use my AAA, but it's a strange feeling to be in a major city and feel disconnected from real help.

Driving 2.5hrs each way... Just like for windshield replacements :)

The plus side is that more dealers are in the pipeline... For instance, a dealer is opening just 15 minutes from me in the coming weeks; PHX and NY come online shortly thereafter, and at least a few more are planned by the end of the year

Do you have any idea if one of those markets might be Nashville/Middle TN?

Somewhere in that region (+/- 3hrs) was mentioned a while ago, but without an actual location nor a date

Hi Desertfox73 - my purchase dealer is 200 miles south. My wonderful independent mechanic with incredible knowledge of BMW engines and 4x4 vehicles is only 85 miles away. So outside of a warranty work/mechanical breakdown, all non-warranty such done "local". Ineos 100 miles and AAA Premier membership will cover a tow. I'm not expecting to need tows frequently and my independent mechanic checks her over every 5000 miles for my peace of mind. New dealership is opening 130 miles from home so things are getting better!
I do agree the weird "disconnect" feeling as currently my vehicle is up at RDS west of Philly since last Monday - picking up next Monday - is this what it feels like to send a child off to Summer camp for 2 wks??? My previous daily drive (2022 Tiguan) dealership/mechanic was 1 mile from my house - drop off in morning and walk home - life too easy 🤣 ! So I recently took Amtrak home after dropping her off at RDS. If need be, a one way rental back home from Richmond. Things are doable!
Cheers!

I’d love to know what it feels like to send a kid to summer camp for 2 weeks - is that more expensive than a car repair? 😂😂

Appreciate the perspective. At the end of the day it’s clearly a leap of faith in some regards. If the car is a lemon it’ll be a difficult experience, but I’m trying to not focus on the worst case mindset. I really want the car to work out - such a great vehicle.

Voice of Middle Tennessee Experience: I've had my truck since June and I will tell you 100% you're on your own in Middle TN for now.

My recommendation would be to get a checklist of things potentially wrong from the Technical Service Bulletins listed here. Ask the dealer to re-do the door seals regardless, ask them to service the air conditioning regardless... maybe they will? ...I went in eyes wide open to this truck, I asked for specific things to be checked as part of the pre-delivery inspection, and even with that, I have both AC issues and The Fabled Bootwash from faulty door seals.

Did I expect both? Yes. Did I try to catch them on the front end? Yes. Am I disappointed? Yes. ... am I mad? No. Reality is this truck has door seal issues, HVAC issues, and some of its issues have issues, such as the issues of a manual and parts. But I went into the purchase completely aware and not pretending I'd have any immediate help. Is that ok with you? I mean, we all have our own tolerance of acceptability / accountability.

I'd say a good 50% of my purchase decision was based the reality / experiences given here on this forum, and 99.9% of that confidence comes from <50 strangers who post regularly offering support and guidance. I swear to whomever you choose: I've not encountered a more diverse, intelligent, kind set people anywhere online as the owners of these trucks. And that's probably got as much to do with the purchase as the lockers... but I did want the lockers...

And 5+ hours from the nearest dealer, I bought the truck because I couldn't find another vehicle that rang the bells that needed ringing in my belfry. Call me crazy.

My trailer hitch seems to be done right... And I don't have electric gremlins. Yet. Crosses fingers. I've done the preventative things I'm aware of...

And...In 2 months, driving daily, I have yet to see another on the road to be able to wave. I guess my commute and radius of explore doesn't cross paths with anyone else close by? Who knows. It's kinda cool being the only one. Kinda lonely too. Buy the truck, I need someone to wave to. 👋

Can't say as gratefully still under warranty 😆! My niece went to camp this summer for 2 wks and $8k .
It is a leap of faith. I accumulated a laundry list of things (including replace the front seal of the transfer box - first discovered in June - drained fluid and measured to get approximate idea of speed of leak) to get done "all at once". With the "G", I dare say you are more organized and preplanned going to the dealer than vast majority of "other" drivers. A few out of the 10's of thousands sold have had a true lemon / others simply didn't properly prepare themselves for what they were getting into and it didn't meet "their" expectations. The "G" is not for everyone. Oh my stomach was churning back last Fall reading all the negative comments before picking her up. I realized some people need to complain about the smallest things, some people had unrealistic expectations and some people had valid concerns that only time would see thru.
Have the faith your "G" will work out! I do and mine has!
Cheers!

Sounds advice, thanks. Any chance you happen to be dropping your truck off at German Motor Works this week for A/C service? I know those guys and have asked if they are familiar with the trucks, the mentioned they have someone coming in this week for A/C work.

The dealer Id be working with isn’t an Ineos dealer so it’s unlikely they’d do much with the door seal or A/C inspection, unfortunately.

Alright, well it looks like you'll have company on the roads. Picking mine up Friday morning. I realize I'm taking a flyer, but life is too short to drive boring cars.

I can not believe they haven’t rolled out service partners yet. They are missing out on a huge market in the metro NY/NJ area.

Service partners are highly unlikely in the US given the dealer structure... The Long Island dealer should be up shortly and there were rumors of another one in the NYC or North Jersey area before the end of the year

For those of us in the Northern Virginia/DC/Southern Maryland area looks like we now have an option to work with MileOne Auto Group in Silver Spring, MD (https://www.mileoneineosgrenadier.com/). RDS near Philly has been great but I like the idea of driving 30 minutes instead of 2 hours and 30 minutes for service. Haven't stopped by yet, but plan to do so in the near future. Anyone else in the area visit with them yet?

Yep, there's another thread about them.... I stopped by a few weeks ago and chatted with the GM and SM, they aren't fully open just yet, but should be in the coming weeks
