I always appreciate when my forum members donate a little bit. I have to purchase maintenance, run the server, updates and of course time....I do not ask for it, but attentive members sometimes send me some money. Still not enough, but I honor that, as it shows me the support and that my work helps, is visible and that it finds appreciation.
You can't ask for more.
But...
I planed and ran tours for a few years for my forum. These were about 250 to 300 km long and took us along differenet ways, onroad, offorad, Gemany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands... In the end I had to deal with 40 cars and it could have been even more, but I put a stop on 40 cars (nearly 80 participants). When planning my tours I needed to found a place where so many cars can gather. The same applied to spots to have a break, I needed to get scouts, to split the bunch into 10 cars each group and I had to find a spot for the night, for dinner, hotel rooms and camping.
That took me at least three weekends to scout (you learn that left turns are bad and you try to prevent traffic lights etc.) That were three times filling the tank, spending weekends etc. I never asked for anything, a few guys helped me on the day of the tour but I also never get something. Not even a "Thank You". As there also was a risk of getting into trouble with officials with car groups of 20, 30 or 40 vehicles and because the participants took all that as if it were granted, I stopped that. And....no one else stood up and continued. Somewhat disappointing....but that's the way it is.
Therefore, if you love that forum, donate! It is not the amount of money, it is the "Thank you" you show by doing so.
