Washing your new to you, secondhand car for the first time is the worst. That’s when all the bullsh*t spray washes off and you start to see all the marks you didn't see when you bought it.

Glad to see that peoples first drives have been positive. Personally I wouldn’t mind the IG with some of the materials used in the new defender, they appear to be good quality and hard wearing.

I think that you never get to know how good or bad a vehicle is until you have Lived with it for a few weeks.

Oh you can stick the defender seats right where the sun doesn’t shine. I will take the IG Recaro seats every time, I was thinking more of the dash materials and doors.

Those seat stains look horrendous though. Wouldn’t happen on mine, I am terrible for fitting seat covers to make sure the next owner gets immaculate seats in their new purchase.

I can understand your thoughts however for me, I am the next owner, as I hope to keep this car for 20 years.
That's why I have opted for the leather seats as I think with occasional application of a cleaner and conditioner they will last longer than cloth.
If they do get warn in places then I will get the leather replaced.
I have gone for the black/gray combination just to lighten them up and so they don't get as hot.

Not being a luddite, but i like to keep things as simple as possible for future tinkering. same reason i didn't want front parking sensors.
Words from Toby Ecuyer, chief designer of the Grenadier "We want to produce an uncompromising 4x4 that will do the job for farmers, forestry workers and safari managers,' says Tom [Toby] emphatically, 'This is not about sat nav, autonomous driving and cruise control.'

I'm sure others in the project have made similar remarks.

They were unfortunately filled with water and not sloe gin... don't ask me how I found out
If anyone liked them enough to actually try and get one for themselves then. This seems to be the company that made/painted/got them for Ineos:

Thanks for the pics! Love the silver with the rear window delete, but the spot welds around the steel panel look a bit ordinary. Do you know if this how the final customer versions will be finished? Would you have a closer up pic of this panel?

I had a great day there yesterday, drove the red one (petrol) in the photo. Very capable and great to drive. The left foot foot rest on that car was a little awkward, but otherwise I was very happy with what was clearly still a late stage photo type. The roof windows were glass which was a pleasant surprise that I hope carries through into production rather than perspex that I was expecting. I can't wait for mine to come, my wife very excited by it as well. Ineos team on site great, lunch provided and a fine excuse for a 3 day holiday in the Borders

Minidok, yes. If you have access to the thread that I responded to, you will see photos of a red Grenadier and also silver (also a picture of the castle). That is the red car that was one of the test cars and the one I drove.

No problem Minidok - definitely worth travelling to your nearest Demo to try it out.

Has anyone asked what the two emergency stop buttons actually do?

One ejects the safari window and the other fires the test drivers seat through it.

Its in the event that the guest gets confrontational and keeps asking why their vehicle has been delayed.
