Mechanics hate in vehicle alcohol testers, no one wants to touch them and some need codes from manufacturers to allow the car to be started for repairs. I don't think Australia has the drink driving problem the US has. Australia's roadside alcohol testing is pretty strict compared to the hit and miss roadside testing a lot of states do in the US.
