Hi All,

I'm new to the forum so please let me know if there is a better location for the post.

I'm looking an MY23.5 Grenadier Fieldmaster SW (very well spec'd) but the owner has mentioned a couple of things and thought I might ask here.
  1. Is it a known issue that when the AC turns on, it will whistle for about 5 min, then clear after that? Seems odd but maybe there is a fix out now?
  2. The owner also mentioned that she had received an email from Ineos regarding reselling the car? "I don’t want to get in any kind of trouble with them as they issued a statement a while back about the first buyers selling their cars." Has anyone heard of this?
The car is for sale in Australia, purchased a year ago and about 9,000 kms.

I don't have a whistle in mine. It's no different than any other car I've owned.
It is worth checking that they have full amount of refrigerant in the AC system, I didn't and it performed poorly until it was topped up.
There are no restrictions on reselling the cars. Expect not after a year.

It was in relation to people trying to sell/flip the car they had ordered (and paid a deposit for) but not yet paid for in full (required before handover).
Rule was that you had to pay Ineos the full amount (and car regoed in your name) before you could sell on. It was made quite clear in the contract.

Mine wails like a banshee when I turn the AC on full blast, and the vent gates slowly sort themselves out with the alacrity of a rheumatic centenarian - I can literally hear the vents porting over one by one. But that’s OK because I’m in the US, so I use that time constructively to turn off all the damn European ADAS nonsense. It’s fine - it’s a non-issue. Just expect a bit of rustic charm in your future tank. You can drive over the guy in the Mercedes laughing at you. If that kind of thing bothers you, don’t buy it. If it doesn’t, pick out your cargo shorts, crocs, and well-loved concert t-shirt from the 80’s and join the club. Bob Marley, the Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd are also accepted.

Ok, thanks so much everyone! I wasn't particularly worried about the air-con, a few minutes of noise I can live with :)
and thank you for the comment on the reselling of the car. That seems reasonable given the long delays some people experienced in the early days.

Now trying to decide, petrol or diesel!
