INEOS gone and replaced......

I’ve never understood folks that shell out $100K for a vehicle only to turn around and take a huge bath on it backing out. Maybe do a bit more homework…

And then gloat about it on a public forum lol. I would be too embarrassed.

Unless it genuinely was a lemon law case.
Didn’t take a bath. Was an early buyer so only paid a little over $100k and had it nearly 2 years so in fact wasn’t a bad trade at all. The issue is it is sold as a go anywhere tough vehicle which it is not. It has many problems and poor reliability. I can’t afford to have the risk of getting stuck again when it fails.

Just too many small issues all the time. I had no confidence in it at the end. I wanted to love it but couldn’t. Had issues with aircon not working on days and then just working again, stick locks, system errors, the tech and apple car play and phone system is horrible. It’s a tiring car to drive day to day and then on long distance drives I started getting cramps from the step in the foot well. Signs of rust at early age also a concern. I wanted to love it but it just couldn’t.
Curious where you found rust so I can watch for that

Sounds like someone did an impulse buy to get the newest thing out there and did not buy according to needs and expectations. I think the Ineos is absolutely perfect for me....and canceled an order for GX550+ and Sierra AT4X when I found out a dealer was opening in my town and would have to drive to Atlanta or Triad for service and to purchase.
Lots of people want the new things to be different but then realize this manufacturer REALLY DID build it primarily for OFFROAD and gave it some ONROAD manners to satisfy that part of its use.....and it wasnt just TALKING THE TALK like so many that are onroad luxary vehicles with solid offroad but not purpose built.
I owned Landcruisers for decades...just sold 2016 Tundra 4x4 TRD fully loaded.....as Lexus GX is only one even considered because doesnt have hybrid...but was so automated and crap...not really a Landcruiser like 300, 200, 100, 80, 60, 40 series here in states...is a Prado like the FJ Cruiser. Toyota may have lost me forever unless they buck up and bring a diesel 76 over here. LOL
Like I said before....I went in eyes wide open after having FJ60s, FJC, UZJ100 and driving FJ55, FJ40s...old tractors, farm trucks, military deuce and 5tons...... no surprises for me at all other than how comfortable it rides on highway.
Enjoy the GX...good vehicle but not in same class as Grenny for durability and offroad applications.

No problem but issue is the grenadier is not well built. I lad a full diff failure at 14,000 kms and the off road functions are awful with the diff engagement random at best and often requires reset. You can’t drive it on long drives due to design issue in the footwell. The grenadier is not durable at all. I doubt anyone would dare take one over a serious trail my themselves line they would an old Landrover or Toyota. It is a poorly designed and poorly executed product anyone says otherwise has not experienced the problems yet.

I suspect he struggled to park it. But until he gives us the full sob story we just won't know!
And with just 5 posts and needing a new screen name (and forum) , we won't ever find out ;)
Struggled to park it ? I had a Silverado before and it is smaller than the Lexus. I got rid of ot because it is unreliable and poorly built and designed. The footwell issue, the HVAC and the tech are horrible. A full diff failure at 14,000 is and the diff locks are completely rubbish. They are hard to engage often fault with errors and you need to reset. Ineos tell you to leave it for 10 minutes and try again. They don’t engage disengage like a Toyota does simpler and everytime. As much as I wanted to love the grenadier. Reality is not is nor reliable and the risk of getting stuck on a trail is too great. I suspect everyone will end up here once they are honest about it.

Sold my Grenadier and got a new Lexus GX550.......................like chalk and cheese that INEOS is the biggest dumpster ever.
Obviously buying it was not really the right decision for you.
You acknowledged it, found a vehicle more suitable and moved on.
Probably the right decision for you.

I am not at all offended that you don't like the vehicle that I like, chose and thoroughly enjoy.
That's why they make so many different types and styles of vehicles.

Has anyone else heard this rust claim (other than the side runners made in China)? It’s the first time I’ve seen someone make that claim.

There have been a few pics of mild surface rust on things like steel wheels, hubs and accessories. But is minor surface rust on some items a reason to turn to jelly and run for the hills? I would think the engine would give out and the owner will have left this mortal coil way before any of these minor rust reports cause failure of any component.

I have no problem with him acknowledging that he made a poor purchasing decision................but why bother posting it on here and trying to defend it??????
It's a bit like trying to tell these girls that you don't find reheads attractive.

No apparent rust ( yet) and my side steps were re- powder coated by Ineos at a local workshop.

I haven’t and it’s interesting that the OP won’t elaborate with specifics.

With that said, if the owner rubs, scratches, or chips through whatever coating is protecting any steel surface, its gonna rust if nothing is done…..IMHO that's not a defect unless it’s been the coating is applied out of spec.

If rust is developing from under the coating and/or the coating is flaking off, that's an INEOS problem.

Totally understandable and your concerns are valid. I’ve been lucky so far without any big warranty claims. Best of luck with the GX550. You’re not the first to lose faith in the Gren and pivot to the GX. https://www.theineosforum.com/threads/the-other-g.12416653/

Interesting find as I was just looking back over the press pack for the Scotland launch back ......seems like a lifetime ago

Well maybe not a lifetime ago....see what is currently showing on the website of the Adelaide Australia Ineos Dealer. New website, but I guess they may be using some old templates?

Yeah I was hoping for a response - ‘cause if it’s the runners or steelies, then that, to me, is not a meaningful observation. If it’s body rust, then Hambach, we’ve got a problem. I have just never heard of rust issues at this stage of the game, other than those kinda lame runners, but whatever, you know? I’m eventually gonna dump those, anyhow. The original claim seemed ambiguous, which is why I wanted specifics.

I completely agree. Living in Maine and knowing a few other Grenadier owners here, I can say that I’ve personally seen no corrosion on the frame or bolts. I have noticed a small amount of surface rust around the bolts on a steel wheel, but that's entirely expected!

Exactly- WI, MN, ME, VT, NH - we all know the drill. If we don’t get corrosion, nobody will. I guess Hawaii - that’s its own corrosion soap opera. I took off my steelies for the winter and ran alloy Black Rhinos (the least obnoxious I could find) with snow tires. I figure that will help a little with rust on the wheels, but it honestly seems fine.
