Mine works fine. It has not always been the case and needed the ministrations of the dealer and multiple calls to Ineos dealer support. The details are recorded elsewhere on the forum, so I won't repeat them here.
I came from a LR110CSW with exactly the mechanical HVAC, (minus the AC), suggested above - they can suck too! The heater matrix is too small to reliably heat the volume of a 110, there is too much uninsulated sheet steel and the blower motor is a poor design.
From what I gather from various sources the primary issue with the Grenadier heater is that it is a bear to bleed the two coolant circuits and both have to be filled to close to the max for full effect. There is not a easy fix, as there is not enough vertical height to make getting the airlocks out easy, it's a packaging issue.
Knowing that the HVAC can work OK means the heat and light in this thread needs to be directed to the dealers and then to Ineos dealer support. Make sure your coolant circuits are filled to the max with the correct coolant, get any leaks chased down and top up every time the level drops.
There have been some build issues with the heater box, with jammed flaps and failed servo motors, but the diagnostics for that are wholly conventional, (remember, mine is an early build truck, so I have had longer to grind the issues down).
The switch logic is a little slow witted; adjust and let it settle for 30 seconds before adjusting again. If you are not getting what you dialled up previously, increment one dial around one click, give it 20 seconds, then set what you actually wanted - it usually gets the point and does what it is told. The system was designed to work in "Auto", moving the dials or selecting/de-selecting de-mist can cause Auto to become deselected, so if it goes cold/hot on you, check the Auto light is on. Later software builds appear to be a bit better.
To summarise, your heating system may well be useless, but others work adequately, so the issue is with your truck and your dealer. If the dealer is stupid enough to say "they all do that, sir", point them at this answer and tell them to contact Ineos dealer support or you will invoke the lemon laws, ("not of merchantable quality" in the UK).
