Hi Mike. Just got back from my travels and will afix them today/tomorrow. How much tape did you end up removing?I removed part of the adhesive tape and used Sikaflex 227
I removed about 25% of the adhesive, at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock and added the sikaflex, but not too much, have some turpentine and a rag ready for cleaning up. The adhesive is good for holding it there while the Sika goes off.Hi Mike. Just got back from my travels and will afix them today/tomorrow. How much tape did you end up removing?
I fitted the front guards to mine months ago for the same reason, if, I know rare, have a bird strike as I live in a rural area with lots of grouse moorland it should save buying a light. Plus I like the look.I have the rear light protectors, I removed part of the adhesive tape and used Sikaflex 227. they have stayed put so far. Someone commented that they would damage the panel if impact happened, I said yes, but- that panel is plastic and easily removed. the light is $1k AU to replace (not sure about the panel) so IMO for lightish strikes they should be effective.
