This thread reminded me of another issue I had when the AC decided to crap the bed. I was on a long trip and didn’t feel like pulling over to try and “reset” the system. I turned off everything fan control to zero which turns off the AC obviously. I rolled the windows down to get that sweet sweet 100 degree Mojave desert air and tried to calm myself thinking Ineos will eventually figure it out lol.
After 10 minutes the fan kicked back on and started blowing at full speed, moving the fan dial would do nothing. I had to pull over and stop the car and let it sit for a few minutes. After that the fan didn’t kick in again when I started it. The AC was still not working but at least the fan wasn’t blowing with a mind of its own.

That's what my loaner was doing. On manual it was warm air in the front, hair dryer temps in the back. Put it in auto mode. Much warmer in the front. Foot burning air coming out the foot vents and rear.

Stopped for 10 minutes thinking it would reset. Nope. Got to destination, pulled the HVAC fuses, reset the car, put them back in and it worked again as it should.

There appears to be some kind of software bug. But I do know the air coming out of vents was WAYYYY too hot. No reason for a heater to blow that temp off air in a car. It literally burned my foot on the gas pedal in sandals.

Jack, it sounds like you started the Lemon Law buyback process using an Atty. Is that correct? If so, how far along in the process are you and how much time did your Atty expect the process to take?

There are multiple factors that can determine how long the process takes. If the manufacturer responds and agrees in the first letter, it can be as little as 45 days. If they don't respond or reply to anything it can mean going into the court system. Depending on your state and how the manufacturer responds, you can go all the way into litigation which means setting a court date, etc. My county where I filed is booking into 2026. So you can see how long the process can take.

My buddy just lemoned his Jeep Wrangler and it was a 90 day process. They agreed and took the car, gave him a check and it was a done deal.

Yep, the heat coming out is dangerously hot. I was a fireman for 30 years and am not easily concerned but this is a very definite fire hazard. It just seems to get hotter and hotter. I can’t believe Ineos hasn’t addressed this issue.

Fire hazard? I doubt it, but... In your case i'd park far from the house (or next to a neighbor's you're not too keen on) and let it run to test the theory.

Lol. Maybe it's because us U.S. based folks haven't had the opportunity to live with an OG Defender and all of its "Quirks". Lmao.

The 250 is just plain boring in comparison. If they sold the 300 GR Sport in the U.S. that might be an more legitimate comparison.

It actually saddens me that the Gren is the only vehicle on the market in that class that excites me. Makes it hard to shop for a replacement.

I just read the manual on the aircon and it says on auto it will control the temperature of the air but doesn't say it controls the fan speed.
It doesn't have dual or multi zone capabilities like many new vehicles so It does seem strange that it can push different temperature air out of different vents.
Obviously it does in your case, but logically it shouldn't be able to.
From everything I can see it has one aircon unit with one outlet, going to multiple vents.
I must admit I am usually in the vehicle by myself about 80% of the time so find I rarely change the aircon setting.
It is on auto and 22 degrees.

I haven't used the auto function for so long I forget how it operates. But my memory was that if I change the fan speed while auto is on, it shuts off auto mode. Is that not the case? I don't want to test it on mine because that is likely to cause it to freak-out again.

The multi-zone-like activity is certainly a head-scratcher. The dealer mechanics and one rep from Ineos USA, theorized that some of the actuator doors were getting stuck half open or half closed and causing that symptom. The theory (untested) is that there are little tabs left over from the plastic injection process on some of the components that didn't get properly removed and those are getting stuck. I have no idea if that theory is accurate or not. If it is, then with time and use they may get worn down and the system may start operating as normal.

When the fault occurs, you and hear a flap or actuator door open/close, or at least attempt too.

Some of the fully built 250's I've seen look pretty damn nice and capable, but I agree in stock form they don't really do it for me. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the 4 cycl hybrid, so if it were me I'd probably go with the Lexus GX which has the v6. But given the unusual (for Toyota at least) problems with the new Tundra and Tacoma engines and transmissions, I'd be nervous that similar problems just haven't been discovered in the 250 yet. This is unusual for Landcruisers, I've owned 5 (LC76, LC80, LC100, LC120, and an LC200 series) and they have been mechanically flawless.

Agree. I have no urgency to rush into the new turbo 6 drivetrain that is causing tons of issues in the Tundra. And the Turbo 4 Hybrid is an odd choice IMO for the LC platform. People will spin it like it's the best ever, but honestly I don't want a hybrid system that can freak out or fail in the middle of nowhere, so I am a bit reluctant.

I have a 99 Hundy that has been solid. No major issues beyond normal wear and tear. I might be more tempted to snag a 21 Heritage Edition 200 Series before getting a 250.
