The same reviewer also posts to the Daily Telegraph, reviews combined.

The steering indeed might annoy anybody who needs to manoeuvre in narrow parking lots. I am fortunes because in Germany they normally are not allowed for cars higher than 2.0 meter. I can imagine that one journalist brought that topic up at the first evening and than others thought „well, that’s a good negative thing to mention…“
I do not know whether those journalists events often take part in a group with that many vehicles. It seems that in such an event everybody notices every bug and mentioned it as if it happened to him in one car. That’s understandable but doesn’t shows the reality neither.

Some of the reviewers seem to have limited experience with Off road vehicles.
When I get out of my Mercedes and into my mates tray back ute I don't complain about it's refinement, sound system and handling.
I think it is perfect for taking shit to the tip.
I used to take shit to the tip in my wife's GLC Merc.
Not as much room as the boot in my '66 Benz though. That's good for 6 suitably trussed adult bodies.

100%
As I mentioned before my cars steering is variable assist and at low speeds it is ridiculously assisted.
It is very easy to steer too tightly into a turn or space.
It terrified my wife the one and only time I let her drive it

Nobody tested whether you can actually hose out the interior.
When you step in something after crossing the dark pavement from the Opera to your car , you need to know this .

English/ Australian here. 20/20 years.

No way would I own this vehicle in UK. Makes no sense. Ergo I take the UK reviews with a healthy pinch of salt. Get a nice VW instead.

Conversely, IG in the Aussie context makes total sense. Can't wait to get mine. It'll sell like hot cakes. Aussie reviewers 'get it'.

Looking forward to all the African reviews too... again, total sense in this context. A Landcruiser killer.

Wait til the dual cab ute and cab chassis land
They will sell here for sure.

“And while not one of the ten test Grenadiers stopped working, there were too many faults and daft design decisions to pass muster; if any of the competition had turned up with this many howlers they’d have been pilloried.”

The faults should have been listed and documented in the article. He makes it sound like nothing worked - perhaps it would be more useful to include photos showing the faults instead of generic pretty photos of vehicles. Other reviewers have not reported such faults and they were sharing the fleet, so I am a bit skeptical of this review but at the same time, a bit concerned.

My biggest concern is on road manners. If the Grenadier‘s steering is similar to the Jeep Wrangler’s then its a deal breaker for me. I am not expecting it to be a sports car steering but Wrangler steering is just unacceptable to me.
I agree the Wrangler steering is terrible

The British reviewers seem to be largely missing the point - much more positive conclusions from the American and Australian reviewers. Ride described as “not that bad” by Hagerty and “excellent” by Motortrend is quite a way apart. I hope Harry Metcalfe finds favourable things to say about it or the damage to the U.K. audience may be too great.

2023 Ineos Grenadier review: There’s still work to be done with this workhorse

Wow, that's a terrible review. These review vehicles should never have been released with these kinds of niggles. I do agree with the comment that if this is the best Ineos can do for review vehicles, God help customers.

Normally an Andrew English byline would get me reading it very carefully, but this does seem to be a little "phoned-in". I'd like to know what the brief was from Hagety as it seems a bit short and shallow from Mr English.

That it handles less well than the new Defender is hardly a surprise, beam axles have their issues; that its steering is a little numb is also hardly surprising when assessing it as a road car. Wanting fewer turns lock to lock is a fasion thing, so far as I am concerned; OK on a race car, a quick rack can be a big help, but in road driving?

The old fart publically wrote 3 years ago:

"So, excuse us if we say no more than promising (although it looks great with some mud on it!), but the proof of the pudding is when it’s in a field pulling a trailer full of sheep for a farmer, or a generator for a linesman, or a couple of search and rescue dogs for the police…"

Come back when you've got some dirt under your fingernails Andy 😁

I liked Harry's reviews of the new Defender
