FYI dealer telling me that 1st service, the following should be performed: Oil change, tire rotation, front and rear differential service, HVAC filter, replace all wiper blades. Quoted $902.35.Price Ineos in San Rafael CA. Mine also has a transfer case seal leak which will be covered under warranty.

Front and rear diff in the 1st service? What is that - like 12K miles? Seems way too early doesn’t it?

It would appear that they are getting a break-in fluid out of the diffs as the next service isn't until far down the road. In the Toyota world diffs are done at the 30k service (and every 30k), so in actuality, it is far less frequent in the Grenadier

I called my dealer here in Houston and asked about the 12K services. I'm just at 6K but my life changing reading from California Psychics said to get it done now. Anyway, $870

You should wait to 12k for the differential gear oil change. Eaton want this interval so that break-in wear metals are fully accumulated and then flushed out. I do engine oil every 6k.

So I'm reading all this stuff about changing the "break in" oils in the Diffs. I have been in the business most of my life and I never heard of doing these services so early but, hey what the heck, I'll bite. So I serviced the diffs and installed some skid plates. The gear oil I removed looked as good as the BG synthetic stuff I was installing and it had ZERO metal material. My two cents worth, save your money and wait until 25k - 30k before servicing these.

I would not as warranty could then be denied on anything axle/diff related. It has happened to someone here on the forum.

So where did I miss that the actual warranty would be compromised? As far as I have seen these "diff services" are recommended by dealers NOT the factory. Did I miss this in the actual Factory manual?
Thanks

And on the page 182, it says 6,000 for 'heavy use case'.
I don't know if I qualify as 'heavy use case' I have a lot of miles running 70+ mph in 100 degree Houston heat as well as towing. And, one time I drove down a gravel road. So, there is that..

12k mile service at Ineos Arrowhead in Phoenix area = $949.85

A bit of advice is to not do the 12k service yourself. Ineos will not validate the fact I changed the fluids (including diffs) myself, and require the dealership to perform the full service to turn off the service reminder light. I have receipts from purchasing parts/fluids, but it can’t be “proven” that I completed the service. 🙄. So now we pay again…..

Total waste of money.

That's not how warranties work in the US. You can absolutely do the service yourself (or at an independent facility) as long as you have all the documentation to prove it was done (and the parts used). The service reminder is totally separate and must be turned off by a dealer.

Almost none of the dealers are filling out the "required" paperwork in the owners manual with the stamp, but again, that isn't a legal binding requirement for US warranty laws

I totally get it, and that was my argument too, however….. what am I supposed to do at this point? I can show receipts for purchase, but I don’t have a time-stamped video of the vehicle mileage and me under the car doing the service, so I’m stuck. (Being overly-exaggerative here, if that’s a word).

With all the nonsense showing up on the forums these days about IA’s lack of giving even the smallest sh!t about their customers, coupled with IA’s apparent lack of being on the same page as their dealers, I figure the safest bet is to take my lumps, pay for the service, and have the backup documentation.
