Sorry missed your post. We saw a few Grenadiers amazingly, in random places throughout the trip. We had a fun comparing vehicles and swapping advice/knowledge. I still keep in contact with some of the owners I have met.
A great trip and write up! Was there any reason given for the shaft to let go [curclip]?

Fantastic write up thanks, very much appreciated. I tow similar and have the 3.8 GVM upgrade with 35mm lift and somewhat concerned about the front driveshaft issues I keep reading about - see how we go I guess. I installed a guard to stop it flogging around if it does let go but now I cannot inspect the shaft. (also need to drop the guard for oil changes - needs a larger sump plug hole to drain oil)

I'd like a taller 'rear' spring (no air bags) and understand SLRV have this - but any increase in height of the rear may worsen the angle of the front shaft from transfer case to diff (if the angle of the shaft is a contributing factor towards failure).

I've centred the rear camera, yes cutting a hole in the door but 100% better - I just couldn't get used to the view from an angle when reversing.

Only other concern from your writeup is the Ineos tow policy @ 100klm. Of all things that was promised for early adopters - for those travelling remote.... flying spanners, workshop manuals, we have you covered etc etc... seems Land Rover of all vehicles have a much better outback recovery scheme from what I can gather, Australia at least - like we will recover you...(maybe this just applies if you have a youtube channel 😀) thanks again for your review. 👍

Do you have any details on the camera moving project? I’m thinking of doing the same. How did you “close” the original camera hole?

Thanks...I went back to your first post, Front drive shaft broken and read through the thread. It seems an issue without resolution at this stage.
It would be interesting knowing the failure rate? Looks like Ineos has produced about 20000 vehicles, so hopefully not too many have been affected. I think 2025 will see 3rd party manufacturers producing replacement drive shafts, I know there are a few working on some at the moment.

I would love to think that Ineos can nail it as with the transfer case recall which came done to a Vin Number batch. Mine was replaced and when I asked the Agent why, they told me that they were not given a reason but instructed to replace it and return it. I am now 40,000ks and fingers crossed 🤞

I hope you enjoyed the Gibb River Road...My wife and I did it in 1981 aboard an MQ Patrol 1980 Diesel...fantastic(y)

I found a plastic/rubber plug at a local supplier that suited... had to trim the back a bit to fit. Perhaps remove the camera and measure the hole to ensure you can find a plug to fit. Whilst doing that, pull the camera cable out a little to ensure there is enough cable to move the camera towards centre. Once that is sorted..... simply a matter of finding centre of the car above the towball and moving the camera same level to the left. I used a dremel rotary tool (one of my favourites) with cutting blade to cut the new hole - easy DIY.
