Americas Got it stuck on the first time out

Ok, so the thing I learned today…after hearing what seemed to be gallons of water sloshing around somewhere I couldn’t see while driving to work and back…there is a second set of drain plugs on the bottom OUTSIDE of the vehicle, removing the interior floor drain plugs empties the water into some type of holding tank, but says nothing about it in the manual I could find
Can you share the location of outside drain plugs?

If you look from underneath, you'll easily spot them in the frame rails, almost directly under the in floor drains

No crocs here in Florida to worry about, just Gators!
Here in Central Europe, we call anything which looks like a Lacoste logo a crocodile. We don't make a difference between caimans, crocodiles and alligators.

They're all dangerous. 🤷‍♂️
 
The first real time out and I got it stuck. Withlacoochee state Forest in central FL. But I am even more of a believer in the vehicle than before. It tackled anything i could see. I even told my girlfriend, the only thing I’m afraid of is a drop off under water I can’t see. And what stopped me not 30 min later? Just that. I bottomed out in the muck. Luckily I met a great guy named Clayton with an F250 who pulled us out.View attachment 7842632

So what did I learn?
Mud, sand, gravel, a foot of water, nothing to even flinch at with a Grenadier, just keep going, you won’t get stuck.

The door seals work
The drain plugs work
The tow hooks work

Having a wading height the same as tire height is a convenient measuring device

If there is something to improve with the vehicle, it would be ground clearance (duh, I already knew that and accept what it is)
Florida is no joke. You could have done this if you were being more aggressive and had your tires aired down. Good job!

I have 80 acres high and dry in Citrus County, reach out directly if you want to practice stump crawling. I will be there part-time in about a year or so maybe we can connect.

Yeah, for sure. I need to meet some more Grenadier owners in FL. That’s actually one thing I am disappointed in the dealership here. They talked about hosting off road events, meeting other owners and nothing. So I settled for finding an off-road club (which is a like a Jeep club, but has an occasional Bronco, pickup truck, or Toyota mixed in) that has been great to go exploring with. Florida Trail Stompers if you want to join their FB group for outings/events once you’re down here

Yeah, for sure. I need to meet some more Grenadier owners in FL. That’s actually one thing I am disappointed in the dealership here. The Jeep guys like to keep to themselves because they are fairly prone to breaking and they don't want to embarrass themselves among other off roaders (in my experience).

This literally happen to me this weekend on my first run in the Withlacoochee. I freaked out lol

How is your car after any damage?
 
Funny, yesterday was my 1 year mark with the Gren. Other than my issue with cracking windshields too easily and not being available through Safelite, it’s been a a lot of fun and almost 17,000 miles since I did this.

There was no damage from this. Just a lot of pressure washing to do to clear out the caked on mud and the shovels the skid plates become. The engine stayed running the whole time and we ended up pulling me out backwards rather than forwards.

Congratulations happy Gren Day...I'm heading towards two years and 40,000klm and having so much fun and learning the vehicle...if you don't mind sharing, so during the year and learning off road driving...what would you do differently to tackle the obstacle you were stuck in?
 
Sounds like lack of go pedal! I freaking came so close in a river when ours was new. Did not look that bad, so I did not even lock the diffs, halfway across the river and half way under water I was :eek: After a bunch of rigs got stuck following me I made sure to lock those diffs before coming back across. Talk about stupid. Never will I enter something like that again with out lockers on.

It can and will freak you out. My first time in sand I didn't turn off the ESC [Electronic Stability Control] and as soon as I hit the sand the computer kicked in and virtually stopped the car. You have to turn the ESC off or go to Off Road mode which turns it off also...I was sat there in powder sand when I managed to go low range and rear locker engaged I backed out with my tail between my legs...new vehicle rookie error. Once you have tyre pressures right, centre diff locked and ESC off the sand is a dream and fun:)

You don't want my boring self on YouTube... I mean, I have a YouTube channel; but it is for people blowing the stop sign in front of my house, and doesn't involve me personally :ROFLMAO:

Dude - I’m not kidding. I call you “Professor” as a sign of esteem, and you have all the experience. 80% of us are kinda faking it when we’re out in the boonies, we have, collectively, the judgement and maturity of squirrels on crack, and if someone dies - well, do you really want that on your conscience? A series of videos that are Grenadier-specific, on Patreon - $5/month, 2000 of us sign up. Start with the basics, then just present different scenarios and the best way to approach them.

Yeah, I would say that’s the biggest thing I learned…always be in 4 Low, triple locked and in off-road mode. This vehicle has the fastest top speed I’ve ever driven in 4 Low and switching in and out can be a pain.

And mud/muck is going to be the biggest obstacle for a heavy vehicle with lower ground clearance (compared to all the jeeps running the same trails with 35-37 tires)

Soooooo . . . no Onlyfans version in a wet t-shirt? In all seriousness- nobody would be interested in face shots. Forward view and exterior shots with voice over. Just an idea - I know I would learn a lot. But, if he wants to be selfish and anti-social . . .
 
Never really thought of sand before as fun, but it definitely is more fun in the Grenadier.
It's the steering setup in the Grenadier that makes driving in soft sand and rutted trails significantly less punishing that something like a 4Runner or Prado. Conversely, most people find the Grenadier less of a pleasure than the others on the road, since it drives and feels like a medium duty truck (that's a vehicle class) and not a passenger vehicle.
