Getting back to my Bronco and Defender roots by doing a few small projects on my Grenadier (Checker Plate, 18" Wheel Swap), and a friend's Grenadier (Checker Plate + Table) and my 17" Wheels / Tires are on their way to Memphis in the Green Grenadier. The Blue and Green ones are stunning with the deviating roof color.

How'd the checker plate install go for you? The instructions seem pretty straightforward.

Mine did not come with instructions but was very straightforward. if you're doing it at home, you need a 3/16 drill bit and a Pop Rivet Tool ($24 at Lowes).

I ordered mine as part of my initial spec but they were delayed. You will need to contact your dealer.

So you got them directly from Ineos?

I don’t think that’s available as an option in Sweden.

I would reach out to dealers where parts are an option. Some are willing to ship internationally, but it can get expensive.

You can get pop rivets with an aluminum core as well. Not much load on those rivets with the adhesive tape, and 100% AL = zero corrosion.
Or use monel rivets if there is steel involved anywhere. They are very hard rivets but used a lot on boats where al/fe are close together 👍🏼

Yup, my dealer actually had a set available in the parts department. I'm installing them with 3M VHB tape only. No drilling. 1/4" wide roll available on amazon.

Somebody please educate me. Why is everyone using silver aluminum pop rivets on black checker plates? Black pop rivets are a thing and available, right? I have checker plates on order, but if my dealer is planning on using base aluminum pop rivets, I'm going home brew and sourcing some black ones if that is a possibility.

Yes black rivets please or perhaps no drill and use 3M VHB tape like @Jeffrey
