7500 (+/-) mile update:
I'm currently at the RDS Service Center in Malvern, PA and figured it would be a good time to post a proper update. Service items on the agenda for today are:
- Oil change - I would have liked to have this done much sooner but between competing commitments and the 6+ hour round trip drive, an alternate solution may lie closer to NoVA in Bethesda.
- Install RAI, exterior/interior utility rails, rear cargo net & rear access ladder - apparently these items came in some months ago, they just didn't get around to notifying me and since February I stopped reaching out for weekly updates.
- Doors don't close securely (intermittent) - I have to be quite forceful when closing any of the doors at random. A gentle push doesn't quite do it. The passenger door is particularly sticky.
- Amber warning and red warning lights (intermittent) - Amber warnings such as the TPMS, Speed Assist Function intermittently illuminate and then go out after random intervals of driving. This has happens about 30% of the time I drive. Red warning lights such as the AEB come on even less but still show up every now and then. Re-setting the TPMS so that I don't have to run the tires at 50psi and upset the tire banshees that live inside of the TPMS will also happen today.
Not really an extensive list per se. If time becomes limited I'll do the utility rails myself and just get the service and other items done. There's about 5-6 other rigs here but they're just sitting, nothing being worked on other than my rig amongst 3 techs. We shall see how long this takes after arriving at 0940 EST.
Overall my IG is still a joy to drive. Yes it is heavy, yes, I've hopped about two curbs with the rear tires during parking lot turns that I have misjudged, but I've taken it off pavement and the Scottish white takes the scuffs rather well, engaging off-road mode and locking the diffs hasn't been an issue, shifting from H to L and using the hill descent option hasn't been an issue either. The sound system is good, I really like the safari windows, and I think a Leitner 3/4 rack or Rhino 3/4 is in the future, along with some interior storage options from bison gear and some Molle bolt on bits for the exterior. It is quite a thirsty thing, averaging about 18-19 mpg so far. The toot horn still makes me laugh when I use it and it's still better than the horn on my D90. lol
I don't regret my purchase and honestly it's been more trouble free than 95% of my old Rovers. It just barely edges out my old D90, and that changes depending on the day.
