Very timely as my son and daughter in law have cajoled me to go to a bouldering gym this morning. It's been 15 years. At least the mats are thick and fluffy...
Mind you , as a 7 year old the challenge was climbing to the roof of the school gym rope; no knots, no mat. Taking one hand off to touch the ceiling was a little unnerving.

We used to climb up the drainpipe on the brick wall of the school so we could get onto the second floor balcony.
Dumbarses put bars and locked on the ground and first floors.
