I have not had this CEL and my fuel gauge is very accurate. The only glitch I encountered was no acknowledgement of a fill-up. It was raining, and I turned the key to ACC to open/close the passenger window. I thought this may have been the cause. The next morning all was back to normal, including a full tank and miles to go reset.

They told me the same thing, and then Trevor in service said this is a known issue, waiting for software update. Lucky for me, I'm 5 minutes from the dealer. Only happened once, but I have not been "topping it off" since i estimate the total gallons to full and stop shy of it.
I had to wait from May 2023 to October 2023 for software to be replaced which takes 24 hours and software is still far from wing any good. Fuel gauge is useless. Fuel
Economy is very poor. If it has rained you get soaked if you open the driver’s door! Front & rear door handle buttons stick in and then you are unable to close door and it will not allow you to start the vehicle. So much for German Austrian engineering. Washer bottle cap retainer is oversized and does not retain cap from falling in to the engine bay! Also had serious steering alignment issues, steering wheel at five minutes past the hour. Whole vehicle alignment out and with it crabbing and Grenadier to have major issues with steering geometry. Front beam axle is not vertical gear box mount positions have been modified. 1700-1800rpm drive train vibration issues. If turned to the left huge oversteer occurs which has to be corrected. All wheel alignment doesn’t over come safety critical steering geometry issues and no adjustments can resolve any of the issues. Camber can be adjusted to a safe setting. My vehicle has been off the road since 19th December 2023 and was stated to be unroadworthy, no support from Ineos after sales, Ineos visited 17 January, ‘Rejected’ vehicle in February, they have changed the steering box and after 13 weeks, still off the road & ‘unroadworthy’. Can get any Ineos representative e to answer their cell phone and Ineos do NOT reply to any emails. Service agent has tried so hard and is getting absolutely no support from Ineos. I have engaged a specialist is independent engineering consultant. Ineos asked me to test the vehicle when the service agent said it was unroadworthy. I suggested an Ineos Director test the vehicle. I am not the only one reporting the inherent steering design issues causing an unroadworthy vehicle.

Yes. Generic code reader/eraser will clear the code. B

I purchased a cheap OBD at Walmart. It did not clear the error. I have 3 P0461 codes. 1 Stored, 1 Pending and 1 Permanent. I press clear DTCs and the OBD states they are cleared, but they are not.

How did you get them cleared?

Just go to auto zone or similar store and ask them to clear it.

Went to both O’Reilly and Auto Zone. Neither of them would clear it because of the type of code it is.
I was able to clear it at a local Advanced Auto Parts store. It looks like the general online consensus is that most would refuse to clear codes.

same with me, they would not clear the code but they let me borrow their OBD device and I cleared the code myself. They said they do not clear codes for liability purposes but customers can clear their own codes....at least at the store I went to.

Did you have the truck running or in acc mode?

Did anyone try disconnecting the battery.

I tried 3 auto stores and no one had a scanner to delete codes.

Which OBD tool is everyone using ?

Thanks

I've filled up my tank 5 or 6 times but yesterday after filling up the check engine light came on. My dealer, Elliot Bay, informed me this has happened to a couple people when overfilling the gas tank. I did not overfill it, just let the gas pump shut off automatically. The code is P0461, which is for the fuel level sensor circuit. I was able to get the fault cleared at O'Reilly's since the dealer is over an hour away. I also noticed that when the check engine light is on the cruse control does not work. As soon as I got the fault cleared the cruise controls works again.

Not sure if all new cars have a fuel level sensor but I didn't have one in my LR4, that I'm aware of, so first time having to be concerned about overfilling.
That’s interesting. I had the same problem the first time I filled my Grenadier. I wasn’t aware that Oreillys would have an OBD to clear that code. Ines told me the only way to clear it was at the dealer - which is 5 hours away.

Malcolm, have you started the British “lemon law” process to return the vehicle, or are you going to try to get it fixed and just live with it?

It alll depends on what the car manufacturer decides to provide at the OBD interface.

Originally and a must are environmental protection systems information and codes, because that was the initial purpose of OBD.

More and more functions were provided over the time, but there can be always error codes or functions which can't be reached by via the OBD protocol.

Then you need vendor specific stuff or professional diagnostic equipment.

I just added my ScanGage2 to my onboard tool kit.
Scangauge II does not clear codes on my IG, I am having the same issue but with the diesel version. Light came on after refueling to the brim.
I have no idea how the IG measures the fuel level, but I suspect it's a newer, pressure based senzor located in the bottom of the sump, instead of a flotation device. I've seen other vehicles using this. It gets wild readings with a 1m column of liquid, thus the error. The pressure-based sensor can also explain the inconsistency in the fuel gauge displayed (it relies on algorithms to predict the available fuel instead of a precise rheostat flotation device (but a flotation meter is more expensive, less reliable, and can malfunction in both directions; a pressure based sensor can only malfunction in reading empty when it's not).
Next time maybe it's better to not wait for the pump to trigger, but to hear the higher pitch tone indicating the tank is almost full and stop it there.

Second time, CEL came on after refueling. Fuel level pretty low. Made sure to pay attention to report exact state the car was in this time; engine off, key in my pocket, door lock button pressed twice (after opening fuel door), refilled from near empty to full, CEL on when I got back in to drive away. My scanner was able to reset codes and turn off the light (iCarsoft CR Plus). Went to the dealer the first time, they said this happens to about half of the cars they delivered. Grr.

Come on Ineos, you can do better than this. Can't you?

Hi wolftinj, Same with me after filling up. Check Engine Light CEL pops up from time to time. I found turning vehicle off and then turning it back on clears it.
I know when it quits doing it, it is about time to fill up again. ;)

Cycling the engine or just ACC position does not turn it off for me. Gotta use my scanner. Pain in the ass. It has only done it twice, but I think I’ve only filled up 4 times.

I fill up all the time but I never let it get low. Is that what's triggering it? The sudden change in pressure?

I have spoken to a BMW tech who advised me not to go past the first click at the pump when it's telling you it's full...this may help...I haven't had my issue again.
