BF GoodRich HD Terrain Tires

Got to ask, what do you guys think of these on the Grenadier. I have had them on my Power Wagon for a little while, and like everyone using them I am blown away by the traction and durability. I was afraid the tread compound was too hard for real trail work, but I am changing my mind. Technically they were designed for HD trucks and towing along side off road use. But I am totally blown away by these. And that is from a life long user of BFG off road tires.

Work notably better (and as expected) than KO2s in muddy conditions, but are also notably louder than KO2s (again, as expected).

About 10lbs per tire heavier. Ride and traction have really blown me away on the Power Wagon. Would 10lbs make that much difference?

In 265/70/17 the KO2 to HD Terrain weight difference is about 15% (53 to 60lbs); that will be felt in acceleration, braking, and fuel economy.

Will it wreck the driving experience? Not at all, but it is important to remain cognizant of rotating mass

Rotational mass is the only real one to worry about.

Looks like Agile OffRoad is using them on their Grenadier Build. I believe he is using 285/75-17's along with the Eibach Lift springs. Anyway, point I was going to make, is that is is probably more realistic to compare the tire's weight to the KM3 MT than the KO2 AT...

BFG KO3 MT in 275/75-17 quotes a weight of 67 lbs each
BFG HD-Terrain in 275/75-17 quotes weight at 64 lbs each

So actually 3 lbs lighter per tire than what (IMO) is the more comparable tire..

Though both are Load Range E tires, the HD-Terrain has a load index rating nearly 800 lbs more per tire, so likely to be a stiffer carcass, and have less flexibility under the lighter (compared to 3/4 and 1 ton trucks) Grenadier..

That’s what I’m putting on once I wear out the factory KO2. The perfect amount of compromise to a MT.

Just not sure which size yet. 255/80r17, 265/75r17, or 285/70r17.
