ASPW wants a Grenadier

ASPW not complaining about the Grenadier, just the pricing and that it comes with Recaro seats, while his old defender has a bespoke leather interior and he flashes his Rolex through out the video, (nothing against a Rolex as it is built for purpose like a Grenadier is built for purpose). I think he loves the new Grenadier so much, that he has to find something to complain about because he does not have one yet. Yes, we all wish the Grenadier was priced lower, however try to buy an old defender and add all the features a New Grenadier has and you blow way past the price of a Grenadier. DaBull
In this day and age, a standard recaro seat vs an OEM seat really won't affect price tremendously.

I don't think Andrew has a very good grasp of supply chain economics. You don't just take features away and thus lower the price. The price is in RnD, engineering, testing, quality running gear and custom components.

I'd bet picking a recaro seat to fit in every vehicle was cheaper than Ineos designing a seat from the ground up, testing it, having it manufactured etc etc

Agreed. If you started doing a conversion to a defender with the brakes, suspension, interior, engine, gearbox etc, the specialists would want £100k in the UK.

I wouldn’t know, I unsubscribed from his channel a good while back. It’s his way or the highway , so I chose highway for him.
Exactly the same as me. Sad really, because he does have some content mixed in with the 90% negative nonsense

I only made it half way through.
Only so much winging and whining I can take,
Same for me,

he sounds like my partner: she doesn't like "good" restaurants because too expensive. I always try to explain ... the food isn't the most expensive, it are wages, taxes, hiring the building, electricity bill and so on.

He should retire

Craps on a lot but he’s done some nice 70 series builds in the past…
He's the guy who rabbits on about simplicity yet drives around in very expensively modified electronic luxobarges full of high end travel accessories he somehow views as necessities.
I just cannot take the old fart seriously!

His points re de-contenting the vehicle to drive down cost just does not ring true. What in the base model would you remove that you do not want or you think you could buy in the aftermarket for cheaper and be as durable and robust as the stock part? Most people replace parts with an aftermarket part because the stock part does not meet expectations (comfort, durability, quality etc). When the stock part fails due to a systemic problem , they always cry why did they put a substandard part in there and they then claim they would of paid more if that part was from name brand x that has proven reliability and a good track record (ie Recaro,Carraro , Tremic, Eibach, Brembo etc). Ineos has done the opposite of this, and although the up front cost is more for these name brand parts, you really end up spending less as you are not paying twice for the part (once for the substandard part and again for the aftermarket part). His whole premise of putting in a cheaper seat so you can then spend double for a Recaro of your choice is just asinine. You pay twice and you pay full retail for the same Recaro that Ineos could buy in bulk at a wholesale price. Also the days of buying piece meal aftermarket parts and making them work in an integrated car ecosystem is no longer possible (airbags, sensors, canbus electric systems etc). Everyone wants to pay less, but they fail to calculate this when taking into account the long term cost versus just the out the door costs. Keep this 4x4 longterm and it will be cheaper than any other option out there today, including Jeep.

It’s a particularly redundant argument in his home market Australia where aftermarket Recaros are horribly expensive.

Moved from the orher thread.

What a pathetic tiny little narcissistic man he is.
- He didn’t get one for free like he wanted
- He didn’t get asked to drive it in Africa by Ineos
- Ineos didn’t want him associated with it in any way, nor did they acknowledge him as the King of Overlanding he thinks he is
- He clearly can’t afford one

So, he made that ridiculous 20 minute rant that just makes him look really sad.

I feel sorry for him really.
