After market filters

These are what I’ve found so far for B57:
Oil Filter: Ryco R2829P (BMW 1142 7 826 799)
Air Filter: Mahle LX3985/1 (OEM EI-0000008153)
Water Seperator Filter: ???? (OEM GRA - 3E12 - 019770)
Thanks, there are lots more third party oil filters listed here. Plus a review of some oil filters available in Australia.

The B57 and the B58 motors use the same oil filter.

More information on the diesel/water separator filter here.

It is posted somewhere. I will see if I can find it.

EDIT: Part Number here, but thread does not state whether Petrol or diesel motor. I think they are the same, but I am not 100% sure, so ask your dealer.

The local Brisbane dealer has a (very) small selection of filters exhibited in their show room... a cabin filter, oil filter and engine air filter.. I got the distinct impression that the petrol and diesel versions share the same filter part numbers.

Found this from K&N. that's the US site, so ignore the shipping comment.

The INEOS uses a BMW filter. I am looking for the part number now.

I think Mahle may actually make it for BMW. See the first post in the thread.

My INEOS air filter cost 86.27 plus GST. So it gone up nearly $10 in 6 weeks.

Have not found BMW part number, but RYCO has one part No: A2051.
Part No.A2051

My first observation about BMW filters: be careful with BMW filters. Some are the same shape as the INEOS but different thickness. It will take time to work my way through them.

The INEOS air filter is made by Mahle, not BMW. It says so on the side of the filter. The OEM air filter is 68mm thick.

The following Table is DRAFT only. It will get its own thread in due course, like the third party Oil filter thread.

INEOS AIR FILTER - THIRD PARTY SUPPLIERS

BRANDPART NO:MADE IN/COMMENT
INEOSGRA3A02008220
OEM EI-0000008153
Made in Romania. Made by Mahle.
MAHLELX3985/1Thanks to @ninetubes.
RYCOA2051
WESFILWA5440Do not buy it. The air filter is only 58mm thick, whereas the OEM filter is 68mm thick. I can only go on what websites say the thickness is and they are saying 58mm.

Exactly. A friend of mine picked up an air filter from a BMW dealer in Cape Town and brought it up north for me only to find it was no where near thick enough.

68mm is the magic number for thickness, or very close to that. The 68mm includes the rubber/silicone seal on the top of the filter. I measured the INEOS air filter, I have as a spare.

The air filter Table has been moved to its own thread here.

Can an owner with a Petrol engine please confirm the same air filter is used on the B58 motor (or not).

I found some Mahle filters LX3985/1 on eBay - $69 - I’ll see if they fit when they arrive. Half the price of Ineos Parts cost.

Sorry mines a petrol engine but the air filter is the one thing I didn’t document out of the service parts I took on my travels.
