I tried to back on to a trailer yesterday and it kept locking my brakes. I disabled everything. Nothing worked. I pulled forward and tried again - it went on like butter. I have no idea. I did nothing to fix it other than try again.
I often leave the driver door open when hitching up tp a trailer. The Grenadier won't let you. It shifts into neutral when you start backwards with the door open.
I found a hack. Two-foot the pedals. Keep the brake slightly depressed until moving backwards. Then it won't shift out of reverse.

Start stop is easy to get around if there's a button. All you need is a microcontroller to automatically "press" the button on startup. There are a ton of existing bypass cables for other mfg already. Once I get my grenadier, this will my first activity. Second activity is killing the speed clicking. Instead of completely cutting the speaker in tell tale module, which presumably is used for lots of things, I'll use a microcontroller running an FFT to silence the speaker for a second.
Please keep us posted on your progress, especially about disabling over speed clicking.

Gotta say, I don't think I've seen this many old white men complaining since was discussion about Viagra no longer being covered by Medicare.
"The clicker is too loud"
"I can't shut off <feature> using one button"
"I have to constantly correct steering"
"I don't want a Nanny"

Hi @nuclearbeef I'll try it tomorrow. Thank you very much!

Or just pop it in off road mode as that should override it as well

Don't read the PPF threads! Lots of whining about bird poop discoloration...

Hang on tight fella, the ride is deceptively fast, and distance remarkably short.

I had an odd thing happen w/my ADAS the other day. Per usual I forget to turn it off until it starts clicking at me. As I was driving I swear I could her it clicking at more but the sound was very faint and appeared to be coming from the back seat or cargo area. I checked to see if the ADAS was on and it was. It was back to normal at my next start up.

If we're honest with ourselves, this vehicle was designed by a picky rich old fart. For all other picky rich old farts who idealize simple, strong, and primitive 4x4s of years past. (White and man are optional.) So is old, actually, but IMO old fashioned sensibilities is exactly what got us here, isn't it? And the marketing targeted old fashioned 4x4 sensibilities and drew our pre-order money in.

So I actually think a degree of complaining is appropriate in light of the faulty AI safety nanny. It's not the law. It was never previewed or presold. Nobody asked for it. So ... WTF.

Sincerely,
A picky rich old fart.

This might not be a popular opinion - and to be clear, I hate the clicks as much as anyone. However I also hate auto-stop-start.

I had a 2016 BMW M3, my first car with this feature, and the in 2016, you could defeat it by changing the setting once. That was it - you never needed to touch it again.

Now, with new vehicles, you need to press a button every time you start the car to defeat it. It's a pain, and I wish it was like it was back in 2016 - but it's not the end of the world and would never impact my decision to buy a car. ADAS is the same thing - its a pain, but press FAV and disable when you start the car.....I mean, I wish I didn't have to, but it's not that big a deal IMO.

Thanks

It has a one click button for the start/stop so thats not an issue or at least one worth complaining about. Its the speed warning that takes multiple steps. Would love to see how you bypass it once you get yours if theres not a solution before then.

I covered all four speakers with microfiber patches and tape. ADAS clicking was attenuated down to a flea fart. Turn signal clicks remained the same. I think the ADAS clicks come from a sound file.
Oh no. Well if the sound is coming from the car speakers and a module behind the tell tale display this might be harder to deal with. It depends if there's an audio return from the module that we can just cut, or if it's coming from the multimedia unit directly, in which case we would probably have to disable all sound in the car to get rid of it.

It would be nice to have Lynn Calder's direct line!

Edit for clarity on 4/28/24. I was not advocating that we all call the CEO, just that it would be nice to give our feedback directly and not through a customer service line. Nothing more, nothing less.

Doxxing on an Internet forum is still not cool, dude. Seriously.

For the love of all that is good, we knowingly bought a European SUV. It is mandatory in Europe to have passive speed warning systems installed in all vehicles manufactured in the EU since 2022.

The NTSB, a U.S. government agency, has asked all U.S. makers and importers to install similar devices. Compliance is currently voluntary but will likely be mandatory in the very near future.

If you have an issue with the American Driver Annoyance System, call your Federal representative. There is no need to dox Ineos executives or even call Ineos. Ineos is only complying with the EU mandate and accommodating the request of a U.S. government agency. Ineos has a lot of hoops to jump through to import a vehicle. Complying with a government request is a wise choice.

If you are so opposed to the ADAS system, I strongly urge you to a.) sell your vehicle or, b.) speak to your government representative as the issue appears to be evolving in to an invasion of our privacy where the system actually reports repeat speeding offenses to government authorities.
