12v socket in the rear

The 12v socket in the rear on my vehicle states 320W max next to it yet its fused with a 15A fuse. Basic school physics ( Power = Voltage x Current) tells me it cannot output 320W the power is 12V x 15A = 180 W so the max power you can draw before the fuse blows is 180W. I tried this with a device I knew drew over 200W and sure enough the 15A fuse blew. Why have they stated you can draw 320W from the socket ???

Sorry for the late reply @Simon37 . just found this post looking for info on what is behind the panel in the lhs of the cargo area with a view to relocating the 12v outlet
The 320W is initially misleading, in that while individually this socket and the front 12v socket are restricted to about 180W max each, if used together, the total draw should not exceed 320W.

Question: sorry if this has been raised previously, I've been unable to get a result from search. Can anyone enlightened me as to what purpose is served by the blue socket, behind the LHS panel in the cargo area ?

So if I want to plug a cigarette to 120V adapter off of the rear socket, what do I need to look for? 180W max conversion? What would that give me on the 120V receptacle side. I assume not power tools, but I have some things that are AC only, not USB powered options.
What converter, and maybe small enough to fit in with the jack???

Watts are watts (more or less), so the 180w inverter will let you use an AC appliance of 180w. Not much, but you could charge drill batteries for example.

Plenty of choice on Amazon or similar where you can the dimensions of the inverter.

So about 1.6 A for our AC would be the limit for a device?

P=IV, so yes 180w ÷ 120v = 1.5a.

I fitted a 300w behind the panel that the cig lighter socket is on, taking the power from the busbar next to the battery. Appreciate a lot more work though.

I figure this is a good enough thread to post my question.

Has anyone run a fridge (in my case a 60L Engel compressor fridge) over a week or so from the rear socket without any dramas? I have the factory dual battery.

I have always run a separate appropriately sized power source for my fridge in the past but haven’t worked out my config for the back yet.

I want to do a 5 day road trip (2 days stationary 3 days traveling) next weekend and take the fridge.

Cheers

I have run a Dometic fridge for an excess of a week non stop running off the back socket. I have a single battery setup on my IG. Run time was in August ranging from Texas to Colorado. Temps in excess of 100°F. Ran fridge down to 28°F. Battery got low overnight but fridge voltage cutoff likely kept it from killing the battery completely but everything in fridge was ice cold at all times.
