Companies announce things all the time. For instance Tesla has announced full self driving/robotaxis being just around the corner for the past 6 years.Perhaps. I suppose you know that BMW, Corning, Intel, Nucor and Samsung among others have announced new plants since the beginning of the year, right?

I have been importing products from all over the world for the last 40 years. That's impressive.
As someone noted in the YT comments, if something is manufactured in China for an export contract and is poor quality or inferior material it's because the foreign buyer chose a price point, ostensibly to undercut their local market and take a bigger margin. They can afford to fund rejects and warranty returns from higher margins and sales volume. Think of Ryobi and Ozito cordless tools sold by Bunnings in Australia. Bunnings sell so much of it they can afford to send returns to landfill, or recycling if I'm optimistic. Almost a single use DIY tool.
Chinese industry will build stuff as good or bad as you want to pay for. That behaviour is not exclusive to the Chinese.
Like the rusting side steps and sliders on Grenadier. Ineos don't make them. EGR make them, in China, to a price that doesn't seem to include metal passivation, priming or ideally powder coating. So they start to rust as soon as the paint is penetrated and we blame Ineos for it because they issued a supplier agreement to EGR. Were Ineos complicit in the pricing (they would not have told EGR to charge more $), or kniave as a new automotive startup? We'll never know.
Rant over. Thanks for posting @MattA
