These bars weren't mentioned in the 'Cargo' section of the PDF manual. Then I couldn't find them described or named so I thought I'd poll the forum. What are these bars along the roof above the gutters and around the exterior accessory ports? If they can be used as tie down / load points anyone know the capacity? Yes, I know I have a roof rack but I haven't acquired the roof rack tie down points yet but this bar looked like something I could put a hook around. I did contact Rhino Rack and they confirmed that the Ineos rack takes the "same mounting channels as the 5 series standard platforms." My dealer still hasn't been able to tell me the official Rhino Rack model number nor do they carry any roof rack accessories yet.

I have not come across a rating for these tie down bars/grab handles , and I doubt they are/will be rated.
That said , a few mfrs have used them for their roof carrying mechanisms.

INEOS GRENADIER 8FT ROOF RACK

The accessories are not unique to INEOS. Many Rhino Rack accessories fit the Pioneer Platform used on the Grenadier. Accessories can be viewed here with Part Numbers (choose UK when asked which country) and then the Rook Rack sub menu. You may need to click on Exterior top left to see the Roof Rack Menu.

So you an buy Rhino Roof accessories from other suppliers, just check compatibility first (lots of resources on Rhino Racks website).

Can you kindly advise where I can buy black T slots and nut for this cross bar? Also rubber inserts. The T bolt has sheared off.

They were initially called tie downs and that was their intended function, specifically if you are loading directly to the roof. I’m uneasy repurposing them as a rack attachment point.

I have not purchased any Rhino Rack eyelets or tie down accessories and have easily strapped items directly to the rack.

Ronnie Dahl recently launched an interesting video on the roof top weight limits. He actually includes the Grenadier in this video. The max weight recommended (including the weight of the roof rack is 150kg or 330 lbs. It is notably greater than many other vehicles with apparently few if any surpassing it. Series 5 Pioneer platform is approximately 89.5lbs without the support rack. The Series 6 (to be release later this year) is about 72 lbs without the support rack. I cannot find the weight of the Ineos Support Rack but not likely not going to be more than 5-10 lbs. So this should leave approximately nearly 250 lbs of gear that can safely loaded on the roof of a Grenadier

I have the Leitner bars that attach to these by replacing the factory brackets

. I have a toolbox full of Offroad gear that weighs 40 pounds and a 10 galllon water tank that weighs 85 pounds full. Both are about 40 inches long and I have the bars set up on the rear bracket of front section and middle bracket of the rear section

That is the million dollar question! No published info on their load capacity, other than their original description as “lashing points”.

Hi Tom109, The Leitner brackets are incredible sculptural works of art that are CNC machined from a solid billet of 6061 aluminum and are so stout that the moment you pick one up you know you have something very special and fit for purpose. In regard to where they connect up to the vehicle, all I can say is that the combination of the bolts and the way they tightened up to the Grenadier's captured nut gives one a tremendous amount of confidence that this is the proper way to connect up the rack for anything you would want to throw at it. My take on the brackets and rack is that if anything they are over engineered and billet proof in a good way. Does that your answer you question about load capacity? Simple answer no. My take, it exceeds it.
