As far as I know, this is a USA Only Issue and Specific to the ADAS System in the 2024 Model. Feel free to skip the Background editorial and go to the Solution!

Background

I was lucky enough to have an early delivery and picked my Grenadier up on Nov 27th. Scottish White (Love it!), Leather, 17” Alloys, BFG K02s, Rock Sliders, +++. What follows is not about the very long list of things I love about the Grenadier, it’s about one factory configuration Issue that makes me (almost) hate it.

This issue, and it is unfortunately ‘by design,’ is part of the newly released 2024 ADAS System includes Lane Departure, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Assist, Over Speed Alert, and a few other things, are ON by default and must be turned OFF deep in the Display Menu ‘every time’ you restart the vehicle.

It’s hard to explain without experiencing it but the warning Beeps, Clicks and Chimes are beyond annoying. For example, the clicking for Intelligent Speed Assist starts when you hit the stated speed limit in most cases. The amount of beeping in this vehicle is beyond anything I've ever experienced other than an ICU room in a hospital.

As a Public Service Announcement (PSA), I would encourage you to drive it when you go to pick it up.

When I say down deep in the Menu, this is the actual process to turn OFF the Over Speed Alert (Note: My Car starts up in Carplay Mode):

CarPlay > Ineos > Settings > Vehicle Settings > Vehicle Functions > ADAS Systems > Intelligent Speed Assist > Over Speed Warning > Over Speed Warning OFF > CarPlay

That is 10 Menu Clicks. Every time you restart the car if you want to turn off Lane Departure, Intelligent Speed Assist, and Over Speed Alert.

For those thinking, ‘This is no big deal, you shouldn’t be driving over the speed limit anyway ….’ Hear me know, believe me later. It is MADDENING. I mainly drive in town, and don’t drive excessively over the speed limit under any circumstances. I’d say speed limit or speed limit +5 MPH, Max. Having alerts going off when you hit the stated speed limit and after, is just wrong in my opinion.

Here is a real-world scenario: You're driving in a 40 MPH Zone .... 39 MPH to 41 MPH. CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK Back down to 40 MPH .... hit 42MPH CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK. Back down to 40 MPH. Speed up to pass a car. CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK. Repeat this scenario on your daily commute. CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK, that's a sound you'll be hearing in your sleep!

I am hoping for a Software Update. However, it says in the Manual that these features can be changed (As described above), but again, not saved after turning off the vehicle. Page 136 in the manual.

Solution
This is the best workaround I have come up with for the ADAS issue related to the constant chiming and clicking when you hit the speed limit and go beyond it. It’s not great, but it’s the best I could figure out until we hopefully get a Software Update.

From the Display: Settings > General > CCI Favourite > Settings-ISA

When you start the vehicle, let the Display cycle up / load. Then hit the Favorite Button on the center console. It will bring up the Settings-ISA Screen. Turn Off Over Speed Warning.

Note 1: If you Unselect ‘Speed Limit Info’ you will have a persistent Orange Icon on the Telltale Display (That’s the name of the small screen in front of the Steering Wheel).
Note 2: You still need to do this every time you start the Vehicle but its way better than the 10 Step approach.

I tried a few other things, including Wade Mode which disables many of these systems, and the Deactivate all ADAS Systems. The issue with both of these options is that they light up the Telltale Display like a Christmas Tree.

Again, I am not posting this because I hate my Grenadier, I love it. I just 100% hate the fact that this feature/lack thereof impacts the driving experience for me.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

The first video is configuring the Favorite Button and the second is Start Up / Deactivation.
Great info. Appreciate the help, my Grenadier is 12 hours old, still getting to know her. thx

If you thought ADAS was developed by car manufacturers with purely altruistic intentions in mind, think again:

Utilizing recorded vehicle data (telematics) including GPS location and speed along with telephone and radio use, Vehicle manufacturers are now selling that information on a routine basis about the vehicle user to a broad spectrum of buyers.

One of the primary customers they target is insurance companies. Here’s a flow chart of what Ford Motor Company developed:

The Finnish people, who highly prize their privacy, are so upset about being tracked that people buying GPS jammers are now in vogue:

“Car data customers can range from energy companies and fleet operators to retailers like Starbucks and McDonald’s, who want to know when you are likely to purchase your next coffee or burger. Frost & Sullivan identified over 50 different organizational types that want to profit from your vehicle, driving behavior and location data.”

^^^ much like how people voluntarily purchase “smart devices” such as Amazons Alexa and install them into their homes to listen in on their private conversations and track their habits only to be beamed back upto the mothership. So Orwellian….

Big Brother is watching you!

I'm just saying, between the data collection in the cars, the mobile phones that listen in, the traffic cameras and security cameras, its getting really hard to dispose of a body. Makes you yearn for the old days.

Sometimes my friends and I will pick some random topic to discuss just to see how long it takes for it to end up in our online advertising.

yep.

spent 30 min at a traffic accident location where i had to climb into the car and hold womans head steady until first responders arrived, and the first banner ad that showed on FB when i got to my office was for stocked EMS bags. i'm not a first responder.

the second incident was shezimm bringing up purchasing a nespresso machine on a friends porch, which I had never heard of before, and again got an ad that day on my laptop.

The second one could be rationalized away as a mass advert coincidence, if it wasn't for the unique nature of the first incident. That's about as situation specific as one could possibly get.

OT: You gotta turn that stuff off on your tablets/phone. It’s normally in your analytics/targeted advertising in settings.

It’s probably futile but I have most GPS/tracking turned off unless I’m using the app. Since I’m an Apple user, I also have all Google tracking turned off. I don’t use their browser at all. That at least mitigates some of the tracking.

All of that and a VPN (home & mobile) help me a lot

Oh, it’s far worse than that. Some US lawmakers want technology that will report speeding directly to law enforcement. Others want speed limiters as a mandatory installation on the cars of repeat offenders. Then, there is the whole self-driving thing…

Frankly, I have noticed an uptick in aggressive, even crazy, driving. I blame movies, video games and, of course, social media. Fast cars weaving in and out, using the shoulder to pass, are all Instagram-able or YouTube moments. There is an infamous YouTube video of a motorcyclist making the 70 mile drive from Colorado Springs to Denver in 20 minutes. He was traveling 150 mph. He does this stuff for clicks. Heres a video. Speeders account for 1/3 of traffic fatalities. I’d wager testosterone and adrenaline account for 2/3 of speeders. To some degree, I imagine we’ve all done it.

The over speed warning in the Grenadier is, for me, a very minor annoyance and, it’s easily defeat-able. I enjoy defeating the nanny state.😜

For the time being, we may not know how good we have it.

And I can guarantee, Ineos is not going to permanently disable a government requested safety feature in a software update.
I used to investigate fatal accidents. Three S’s.

Speed
Substances
Stupidity

The more combined equals the greater chance of a lousy outcome.

I absolutely hate everything that is sharing data to "personalize" something. It is a load of ....

I started using a Firewalla and something like 80% of my traffic is now blocked, almost all data collection. My phone permanently VPNs back to my home so I get ad and tracking free service when I am not at home.

I have no connection to this company, I just really like their product: https://firewalla.com/

LOL!

I believe it is a couple of guys that left Cisco and thought they could build a better router... It is... It has been flawless for years and routinely stops my wife from clicking or downloading stuff that she shouldn't...

Looks like we may be on the losing end of this argument...

I so don't buy that... It is similar to Consumer Reports and cars with incredible reliability or no reliability.. They never look at who owns the car and what kind of driving they do.

If you read the survey link they say thousands of accidents are caused by speeding. What they leave out is hundreds of thousands of people are injured from distracted driving. Yeah, speeding is bad, but distracted driving is responsible for more than 1/4 of all car accidents.. I would gladly give up my cellphone use while driving to eliminate the chime :)
