I met up with a Navtec owned LX LandCruiser and a Jeep Moab from Adrift Adventures (both are off-road guide service vehicles) at a remote trailhead in the Moab desert last week. Since the gold medal podium spot was available, I thought it was appropriate.
On a more serious note, I put another 70-80 miles on the trails of Moab the last few days. The Grenadier was stellar again. For some reason, (maybe the consistency of the summer sand) I was activating the downhill mode more than usual. Talk about sure-footed! A Gladiator in our group went a little too deep in to a dry wash and needed a tug to get out of the sand - Grenadier to the rescue. I pulled them out with ease.
After the trip, the eco-diesel Gladiator (very nice trail truck!) was having trouble towing their trailer back to Colorado. It kept going in to half-power mode when pulling uphill. (An EGR / emissions sensor is the suspect.) Fortunately, I had my hitch extender with me. I towed their 3500 lb trailer back across the mountains at 65-80 mph with no problems.
