Not really - up to 120kms I really don't notice the snorkel making much noise, except in some situational heavy cross winds which we had recently with storms. With KO2 tires, it also seems ok and I have 2x sleeping kids half the time.Has anyone seen anything concerning the On Road noise of the Grenadier and in particular the wind noise associated with the snorkel.?
I am new to Noise measurement. But the noise was over the average.Over 85 dB for extended periods can cause hearing loss,,,, But I am not sure how accurate your meter is and at what freuencies this noise is. And the most important factor is the amount of time you are esposed. The 85 db limit is for constant exposure over an entire work shift, which is not the condition when driving a car..
85dB is highly unlikely in any modern car as an average generation... my old Triton was 66-68dB and it was somewhat louder than the Gren. I will have to test this tomorrow! Here is an interesting chart of measurements made on various cars. It "seems" that your measurement is much higher than expected!
I second this suggestion. It'd be awesome if current users could get some numbers for us on this. I'm coming from a 200 series LC and loved how quiet it was. I'm hoping the IG will be close?
What noise are you experiencing?Hi Bushguide,
I had my Grenadier almost three weeks ago, so I am reviving your post because I also noticed a high air noise level while driving.
I am attaching several images showing the noise level (Showing the noise level and the car speed). I think if we are going to drive long distances on highways, it won't be comforting.
Can someone tell us what is the healthy or acceptable noise level?
Db isn’t linear. Something like 70db is twice as loud as 60.Over 85 dB for extended periods can cause hearing loss,,,, But I am not sure how accurate your meter is and at what freuencies this noise is. No: 3dB is double! 10 dB is 10x........Db isn’t linear. Something like 70db is twice as loud as 60.
When the wife let's me drive it again I got a readerIt'd be awesome if current users could get some numbers for us on this. I'm coming from a 200 series LC and loved how quiet it was. I'm hoping the IG will be close?
Correct.. it's "logarithmic" not linearNo: 3dB is double! 10 dB is 10x........
Agreed, 85dB is "bloody loud"!! and almost x10 the WH&S threshold (75dB) for mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) under local legislation....85dB is highly unlikely in any modern car as an average generation... my old Triton was 66-68dB and it was somewhat louder than the Gren. I will have to test this tomorrow!
